What a great experience and healing. I've learned I didn't get my body into the present shape in an instant and healing is a process, not an overnight miracle. My blood pressure today checked out at 110/80, surprising my doctor as I'd gone for minor surgery.
A magazine that I enjoy and that helps keep me up on my yoga without an instructor is Yoga International. I've found the meditation and breathwork is most enlightening. Its many fine articles and poses help me expand both my practice and my qigong teaching. This magazine may be the solution to not having enough time to take classes as you can browse the magazines in short bursts. It focuses on a common ground in yoga, tai chi, and qigong that I think is the mind/body connection.
Interesting that you have tasted/smelled the lithium as part of detox. A friend with serious health challenges had a similar experience when he started using an oxygen enhancer in water. He smelled sulfur which he attributed to previous drug abuse or maybe present prescribed medication. My own experience with the "enhanced" water was revisiting physical injuries from the past. My son reexperienced the pain of an old whiplash injury; mine was an accident from tubing down a mountain. With both of us the pain lasted one to three days, but with the exact memory of the specific pain minus the debilitating effects. A strange purge to say the least.
I appreciate your response. I'm going to share your good experience with another musician who has been diagnosed as bipolar, treated similarly, and now has had his diagnosis changed to ADD. I didn't think to talk to him about yoga and tai chi as alternative care, but will do that. I wish you the best on your road back to health and creativity.
