BV can be present without odor but I would say if your doctor sent it to a lab and it came back negative then you probably don't have it, per se, but you could still have a type of imbalance. Even yeast is an imbalance. If I were you I would invest in some pH test paper - normal vaginal pH should be something like 3.5 - 4.5, which is acidic, and if you have a type of bacterial imbalance your pH is usually higher. Peope who have BV sometimes have a vaginal pH as high as a 7. I think that would help you in diagnosing a problem. If the pH is too high anything that would help the re-establish the normal acidity would probably help to relieve your symptoms. I have mentioned Vitamin C in this blog but if you're already irritated and itching then it may make that worse so I wouldn't use that. I have read about a prescription called Aci-Jel that contains lactic acid, I think, but is formulated to specifically return the vaginal environment to its proper acidity. I have not tried it, I asked my Gyno for it but she would not prescribe it to me, she didn't think I knew what I was talking about and it made her mad that I challenged her opinion. Maybe your doctor would prescribe for you if that's the problem. If your pH is ok and you still have itching but no other symptom such as odor or discharge then my suggestion would be an allergy to a soap, detergent, or fabric.
