You seem to have a bit of knowledge on BV and I wanted to pose a question to you. Is odor always a symptom of BV or can it be absent? I am struggling with a problem that stemmed from an allergic reaction to a spermicide that was on a condom. I have tried monistat 1, monsitat 7 and eventually clotrimazol for a possible yeast infection. I swear I had a yeast infection because it itched like crazy and the clotrimazol stopped the uncontrollable itching, but I am still having an itching problem three months later. I have seen my PCP and an OB/GYN my pap smear was normal, but the PCP looked under the microscope before my pap came back and said it looked like BV so she gave me a one oral dose of metro which didn't do a thing for me. I went to the OB/GYN who did a test of the discharge he checked for both yeast and BV and found neither of them. He then prescribed me a corticosteroid for 7 days and it did not ease the itching at all. I just tried yogurt for almost two weeks and it has done nothing. I have no odor, just itching everyday which if I keep busy I can somewhat ignore. Also I have no discharge that resembles yeast, as I have had a yeast infection before...the only discharge is a liquidy, white discharge that comes from my urethra. Are any of these symptoms similar to that of BV? I honestly think I had both yeast and BV at the same time. My OB'GYN said it sounded that way and he believed I had BV just from a visual exam and was going to give me metrogel as a sample but he didn't have any left. When my tests came back he said they were negative...the lab was backed up and I had to wait a week for the results. Both doctors have now thought that I have BV and both times the lab results have not shown it is present. I am so frustrated with this...three months later I should not have a problem after all these treatments! I wish I would have known I was allergic to spermicide before hand. I have read that it causes yeast and BV. Any input or wisdom you have would be great! Thanks Add This Message To Your CureZone Favorites!
