In the entry, above, I mented that recovery and healing was a Whole-Self-Process that included mind, body, and spirit. When I mention "spirit," I mean just that: attention to the soul or the core of the Self....that part of us that makes us each unique.
Spirituality is not religion. My feeling is that we all are allowed to believe what we wish, even if those beliefs are not based upon common sense, gentle humanity, or agape. But, our spiritual selves suffer, dreadfully, when we are traumatized. For me, the spirituality was the first thing to go, and everything else followed.
So, take time to determine what your spirit needs. Determine what makes sense to you and where you find that comfort and nurturing that the soul needs. Nurturing does NOT include judgment, shame, or blame. Nurturing means caring about the Self without cruelties or admonishments - accepting who we are, and that we are "okay." Of course, striving to find a balance is pretty much the journey, but it's important to NOT self-denegrate.
