Hi there
First of all, good luck with your plan to make a shift in your diet as part of a drive for health and I hope you have reduced stress you anticipate in your lifestyle.
You say in your note that you plan to drink only water for 40 days.
Can I respectfully invite you to consider a wider range of possible ways forward once you are 3-4 days in?
Zero calorie intake for that length of time is viewed as medically dangerous. As someone who has completed strict fasts myself, including Master Cleanse for 26 days and broth fasts for about 3 weeks, I favour fasting. But a total ban on nutrition entering the body for 30 days may not be the best way to achieve your goal.
For example, putting the body into starvation mode means that once you come off the fast, the body has been alerted to take and store all the reserves it can as soon as it can once starvation conditions stop - just in case they begin again. That means that many people who fast for weight loss find that we regain weight quickly, and their body has adjusted to favour putting on weight - so in fact we gain the weight we lost, plus more in a pretty short space of time.
Not everyone, and not all the time. But to avoid this, we have to keep our attention on our diet once we finish fasting, and above all, we have to exercise regularly.
If this sounds like it might be difficult for you, maybe consider a transition from the water cleanse to the Master Cleanse or broth fasting once you have completed a short water fast.
You can read lots of people's experiences of water fasting and there are a lot of experts on this site and the FAQs might help you. They certainly helped me.
Good luck to you. I totally support your desire to make the shift and experience change inside your mind and lightening the load of your body. But I do invite you to consider if a change of approach might best help you achieve your long term goals.
