Altho we were discouraged to do artistic endeavors professionally in my family -- I feel very fortunate that art for art's sake was encouraged. My grandfather played his accordian right thru his 80s. I was almost amazed when my youngest sister showed up at Christmas w/a sketch of her horse. I had not known her to dabble but I guess she either became impatient waiting for my artist-sister to do it or became inspired by her son who is very much into drawing. I am in total agreement with you about art. I love making my own things. I feel that anything you produce yourself has more "spirit" than many of the things one buys. I try to surround myself with things wrought out of "love" and sometimes -- blood, sweat, and tears :)
While many people will think that if they arent good enough to "sell" their art or make a living by it, they shldnt pursue it because it is a waste of time. All of the thoughts you have posted show many reasons why that just isnt so. Enjoy the time you have to work on your own projects. I think that exploring one's inner artist is akin to journeying to another planet, dimension, whatever .... Who knows what wonders you shall find to share with us all? ....
I am so glad that you were able to return more fully to your art. It is painful indeed to be unable to follow one's bliss. Your blog is similar in point of view to a message I have been working on for one of my blogs. I hope you inspire others to find their art. It can be a lifesaver during times like these.
