Hello BP,
I'm a huge baseball fan (my favorite team is the Giants) and I saw you posed the 6 hits in one inning without scoring a run question a while back, and I've been thinking about it, but can't come up with a solution.
So, I give up, how can a team get six hits and yet not score a run?
Also, you are a Yankee fan, right? What do you think they should do with A-rod? He gets booed all the time now..

Wow, it took a long time for me to like the yankees, u must remember i am old...52, to be precise....my first baseball game that i saw was at the polo grounds and the mets were the home team, in the apst the ny yankees and the ny giants also called the polo grounds home. The only ball park to have 3 differant teams call it home...
many was to get six hits ,
here we go, hold on to your hat!
1-base hit....runner on first
2-base hit.........runners on first and 2nd
3-base hit..runner at second thrown out at plate....one out ...runners on first,2nd
so far one out and 3 hits
4-lets say, the runner on 2nd is then picked off...two outs runner on first
5-base hit runners on first and 2nd ---------four hits
6-infield hit and the bases are loaded..............5 hits
7-now it gets tricky so here it goes.the batter hits a , lets say screaming ground ball fare down the third base line.....the ball hits the runner on third while he is in fare territory....the runer is out.the batter is credited with a single.........lol....six hits and no runs....many differant scenerios.....i thought about this over 36 years ago while creating trivia questions...so far i am the only one to ever give this question....i could be wrong...........
haave fun.......

Hey Pastry. Would that sixth hit really be a hit? I have a hard time believing that the batter would be credited with a single for just lining into his teammate, especially because he wouldn't be anywhere near first base by the time he was out.
I don't think six hits in an inning is possible without scoring. Can you give me another variation?

Sorry pal, I asked around and you are wrong about this question, the ball is dead once it hits the batter, the batter is not awarded a hit. I knew something was fishy here.
From David Pinto at BaseballMusings.com:
---
Your question is answered by rule 7.08(f)
He is touched by a fair ball in fair territory before the ball has touched or passed an infielder. The ball is dead and no runner may score, nor runners advance, except runners forced to advance. EXCEPTION: If a runner is touching his base when touched by an Infield Fly, he is not out, although the batter is out;
Rule 7.08(f) Comment: If two runners are touched by the same fair ball, only the first one is out because the ball is instantly dead.
If runner is touched by an Infield Fly when he is not touching his base, both runner and batter are out.
