  • Day 15   by  RedFizz     18 y     3,676       4 Messages Shown       Blog: Fasting & Detox: Juicing for first time

Hello there.  Day 15.  My next mini-goal is day 20, which I think is on Thursday.  I had an apple, orange, carrot, raspberry, and strawberry juice.  Yum!  It tasted like the flavor juice for a slushy/icee.

So there was quite a response to my big cleanse info, so I will give a little more info.  For starters, yes, it is rather expensive.  It's along the same lines as a massage when it comes to cost.  Normally, you do it more than once, because it is considered...um..."upkeep".  It's like brushing your teeth, but it's definitely not your teeth. : ) Also, there were times that it was uncomfortable.  At times, there was a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen until the water moved onto the next section.  The lady massaged my stomach causing the water move.  Also, she would jiggle my stomach trying to loosen things up.  I am going for another on Tuesday, so I will let you know if it is any different because I am either used to it mentally or physically--or both!  I am planning to do one once a week while I fast.  Then I might move to just once a month or something like that.

When it comes to another thing that is happening to my body, Freedomyou.com says, "People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or boils" (http://www.freedomyou.com/fasting_book/Physical%20Reactions%20to%20Fasting.htm).  Would you know it, I have boils/abscesses!!!  They are on the back of my neck.  I never thought that I would ever have boils!  I rarely have acne, but at least it is documented to be a normal reaction/cleansing/detoxification symptom.  Otherwise I would seriously be freaking out.  They actually hurt at times.  But they are getting better.  This is by one of the most humbling things I have done, that's for sure.

I cannot wait for the detox effects to be over and my body go into healing mode.

Also, I cannot wait to lose more weight.  I am having a tough time with temptation. I really want a greasy pizza or fried chicken.  I also cannot wait to start trying better food like sushi (but with cooked fish).  But I am having a tough time thinking about food.  Has anyone been through this?  Does it get better?  I am so afraid of going back to my old ways and gaining all of the weight back.

I realize this is a long message, but I now have a chance to get into more details.

    Have a great day!

I have read your entire BLOG, and i must say that you are giving me a lot of strength to start on another FAST. the last time, i only completed 5 days. i was hating the attitude changes. i just have a few questions:

did your body give off an odor during the fast?
did u see a difference in your teeth? (discoloration or bad breath)
did you ever find out if exercise is good during a fast?

i currently workout 6 days a week, and couldn't imagine not being able to do it.

      let me know..

      and CONGRATS!!

Thanks for the encouragement! To answer your questions:

        1. Yes, there were a couple spells of body odor, but they didn't last long. It was like when my nose would run for a few hours and then stop.

        2. There were a few times that my breath was horrible. I didn't notice much with the teeth, but my gums look great now! (Not that they didn't beforehand)

        3. I decided not to excercise simply because I work full time and go to school full time. I need to conserve energy. Some people say Yoga is good and so is walking. Check out m.o.g's blog. He exercises a lot.

I hope we can start reading your blog for your fast. I am starting to feel better and better.

        Thanks again!
