Blog: Observations
Dr. Joel Fuhrman, who is a vegan, doesn't look amazingly healthy in the pictures I've seen. Especially his hair, which is thinning. He is relatively young and has been in a healthy lifestyle for quite a long time, I understand. I liked his book, "Eat to Live."
What do you think about how he is looking, particularly his hair? I am always interested to see how healthy-looking different health professionals appear to be.
For example, Dr. Weil or Dr. Phil - they sure aren't my health role models. Dr. Graham Kennedy looks pretty great! Rev. Malkmus of Hallelujah Acres looks well, too. (I am talking about health/fitness looks).
Of course, if someone doesn't look particularly healthy, but look BETTER than before, and they were a junk food eater and then reversed a disease, I can understand that they wouldn't look like a perfect specimen of health.
I want to clarify that obviously Dr. Fuhrman looks much healthier than the average American. Just trying to analyze him as a health example. The hair in particular concerns me.
If you want to see the photos of Dr. Fuhrman that I saw:

Perhaps genetics has something to do with his hair loss? I don't think that diet can blamed as the sole cause of alopecia. Healthy? Sure. I believe many Americans have a distorted image of what a healthy person looks like based on the prevalence of people being overweight, anorexic, overly muscled, and all kinds of other extremes. What's wrong with Dr. Phil? Looks ok to me. Baldness does not equal unhealthy. P.S.: I have a full head of hair but it has been very fine for my entire life, just like my parents.
