Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart
Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star
Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free
(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

I absolutely loved this song from the moment I heard it as a young child from the movie of the same name. And you're right, the words are profound.
I love how you are with your children.

I was barefoot more than not as a child... I never did a homework assignment...but exploring and discovering were way at the top of my agenda... Some things never change.
When my children stayed with us at the beach, during the summer, I would put the television on the curb and let someone take it off. It was so much fun being around my daughters. They would make up songs and plays and all kinds of magical things. We would go to the beach almost every day. My kids would get their friends and we would load up and go..take two garbage bags each... I told the my kids and their friends I would take them to the beach but they had to fill one bag with trash first...because "we had to do our part"...then the second bag they filled with aluminum cans to pay for the gas to get to the beach(I wasn't such a good father..I let them get a piece of stick candy too)... We lived on almost nothing but we never missed a meal and they never cut the lights off... Being poor opened my eyes about some things...
Jack Booted Thugs
Once while riding on the bus
The seed of Jack Booted Thugs prevailed
In passing I sat quietly
Because these thugs did not hate me
As if by my silence
I seemed to give them energy
And giving made me drained
Like Vampires from me was made
The seed of Jack Booted Thugs
Jack Booted Thugs come in many brands
Blonde haired Blue eyed Pale
Or any number of shades of brown
Sometimes they dress in uniform
Of Po'lice-Man Soldier or Gangsta'
Skinheads are not the only form
Jack Booted Thugs' seed is hatred & retaliation
Their armor is ignorance
Small minded thoughts of misery
They cherish and keep close to their hearts
Blame it on yourself
With children did you spend the time
Tell them to love your neighbor as brother
But you could not do that?
AND Why?
You are too busy watching Tee Vee
Watch Out!
Here comes another Drive By!
