The 'Secret' fad appeals to the mindset of the masses, it seems, who expect and believe that all it takes is a certain thought to fulfill their dreams miraculously, whether it be financial abundance or 'enlightenment' -
This is the mentality that feeds the lottery corporations and is not really
the fault of the publishers and writers of the 'Secret' book and movie, but is a natural result of the many who have lived in fantasy, honouring the illusions for so long.
The parts of human culture that have come to believe that they are nothing but the physical body look to money as the main source of happiness and security.
Naturally, that would be their focus when it comes to finding a 'miraculous method to change their lives for the better'. (As per 'the Secret's' promise)-
We can only change our lives for the better if we can expand our awareness to a more spiritual perspective. To me, that means recognising that my small self is but one element in the Great Sea of Being that we all exist within. I feel that the more awake we are, the more we see, feel and function from the perspective of Oneness-With-All.
I have had the experience of 'experimenting' with severe pain, in my journey, and have found it to be an experience that is quite illuminating in respect to the realisation of this One-ness. As long as I believe that my 'small self' is the only reality that matters, pain is a gigantic burden. But, when I learned to not take the pain 'personally' and saw it as just another sensation, another experience, it suddenly became just that, another sensation, with no label, no name, no judgement; no pain.
If we focus our awareness on the darker aspects of our existence, then that is what we will notice most. In this way, we cause a (seeming) expansion of that darkness within ourselves, and we 'contract'-get 'smaller' and less aware. If we focus on the brighter aspects, the same principle applies and we 'expand'- become 'larger' as we meld with all beings and recognise the beauty and wonder of our One-ness with All.
This is the principle of the 'Law of Attraction' at work.
'Energy flows where attention goes' - as the Huna practicioners have stated for many centuries.
If we say 'I wish I were happier' or 'I want to be wealthy'-
we are telling ourselves that we are unhappy and our happiness is dependant upon certain factors outside of ourselves; our unhappiness and 'poverty' will continue in accordance with our consciousness, or lack of consciousness.
When we recognise that we are not separate from others, that this world of ego and separation is but a dream and illusion, albeit a persistant one, we have everything we want because we ARE everything!
What more could one want?

Its always so very nice to hear what you have to say - a lot of us here feel most inspired. In fact when your name shows up I make it a point to read in spite of time factors and other interesting topis here on CZ!
Also the next tale about "changing" water to wine has inspired me to look at my anger in this light. Keep up the good work - you must be a very strong person, in spite of the handicaps!
