This is a very interesting opinion. Herbalism on the perspective of modern medicine  is lacking in scientific proof and cosidered as folkloric in nature unless of course otherwise has been proven to be effective in treating illenss by means of scientific studies and experimentations.

While it is also a fact that many of the so called modern medicines were developed from herbs. But still there are many herbs that has still to be studied for efficacy.

I am firm a believer that our wellness should be decided by us. And that will mean obtaining knowledge relating to our health by making our own research so that we may not only be dependent on the health practitioner's decision but we will become an active decision maker on what treatment we shall have, whether it is by conventional medicine, by alternative medicine or a combination of both.

We are fortunate to have this oppurtunity to be enabled to make informed decisions, if only we will exert the effort. But I totally agree with you that if we may decide to take herbs, let us be guided by a professinal who knows what is best.
