Blog: Journey of Light
The other day I was sitting at my computer and had this urge to write. At first I just wrote whatever came to mind. Not sure of what the intent or point was, I allowed the words to appear before me. Once I immersed myself in the experience of writing, I began to put together a poem of sorts. Never having written a poem before, I found this to be very interesting. Then again today, I had a similar experience. What made both of these moments even more interesting is that these poems came to me more in the context of song or lyrics. Almost as if off in the distance I could hear someone singing them. It was to say the least, very cool. Granted they are my first attempts at poetry/lyrics but I figured I would share them here in my blog. Just another opportunity to express that which I am.

There in the Darkness
Within the silence of my mind I found you.
There in the darkness I first heard you.
How is it that these moments pass with nothing new?
Why are these days ahead so far and few?
What is your name and where are you?
Why do I always feel so far from you?
I search for everything I can find that is true.
I know it’s now time to break on through.
All of this brings me back to you.
All of this brings me closer to you.
There in the darkness I left a piece of me.
The shell of what I was fell to save me.
My eyes are opened wide and now I see.
In the stillness I can, I can simply be.
All through these days I knew you were there with me.
The grace of who I am now resides in me.
Standing by with love if I fell from thee.
For all time I shall know you set me free.
Freedom brings you closer to me.
Freedom brings you back to me.

How Could We Be Anything But Insane?
Each day we see the horrors and the pain.
Where did we all go wrong?
The frightening stories of danger lying just outside the gates of heaven.
What have we done to the thought of freedom?
The blood spilled covers each of us in blame.
How could we sit idly by and watch the fires consume us all?
Taking what we don’t want giving what we cherish away.
What about the children watching us in our madness?
How could we be anything but insane?
Our minds exploding with thoughts of anger and pain.
Covering up our feelings and wiping away,
Tears that proclaim us human and sane.
Horrors all around us perpetuating fears.
We’ve allowed ourselves to feel nothing for too many years.
Break free. Break free. Rebel against the way we were told it had to be.
I proclaim a revolution that starts with me.
Let go of your pain and allow yourself the glory to feel.
Peel away the layers of yourself and find what lies within.
The veil of misunderstanding is beginning to thin.
The people are awake and looking to a future that shall now begin.
How could we be anything but sane?
With love in hand and joy in hearts we shall remain.
The cost of another life we shall not pay.
Let no future generation think we are insane.
