Blog: Journey of Light
One day last week I had a dream that was nothing short of amazing to me. It was pretty much unlike any other dream I have had. The dream started off with me standing in front of my house. While standing there my grandmother who passed away two weeks ago comes walking up the front steps. Just as I have envisioned her in the past, she is younger than when I can remember her. She is probable in her early to mid sixties with brown curly hair. I think this was a very happy time in her life and that is why she chooses to project herself this way. I have read before that when a spirit comes to you or is seen they often present themselves in an image or at an age that brings or brought them the most happiness or joy. So I figure that this is why I see her at this age rather than at the ages I can remember her when she was in her seventies, eighties and nineties.
I know that when we saw each other we hugged one another which was just a great feeling. The next part of the dream I did not remember right away. I was telling my sister about the dream and I said that we were probable saying goodbye to one another which would make sense, but when I thought about it later I actually realized that we were not saying goodbye. It was the complete opposite. We were saying hello to one another. It was as if we hadn’t seen one another in a couple of days and so we were greeting one another. But there was also a sense that we were both surprised to see each other. It was as if we were both surprised by our meeting. To put into words it was like saying, wow it’s funny seeing you here. How is this possible? I guess it was a moment when we both realized that there was nothing separating us.
After talking for just a little bit, I noticed that something was distracting me. I don’t know if there was a noise outside or something but I began to lose my concentration. When that happened the image sort of faded out. It was almost like watching a television program and all of a sudden the screen goes to static. I could no longer see her but I could hear her ask what happened and where did I go. I then tried to concentrate again and was able to see her for a little bit more, but then the static came again and I woke up.
While most people would say wow that is a really nice dream, I have to say it didn’t feel like a dream. That is the part I am having difficulty in describing to other people. There was a feeling to this experience that was completely alien to any dream that I have had. Even those dreams I consider to be my most vivid and powerful. I have never had a dream that felt so real. It’s as if I was transported completely awake with all of my present faculties to another place where I was able to talk to her. There was absolutely nothing to it that felt like a dream.
So for me, I think it was much more than just a dream. Although it has never happened to me before, I have read that people can leave their bodies during sleep or very deep meditations and go to other realities, dimensions or even worlds. This seems to present the only likely explanation for me. This may be far fetched for some people, but it is the only way for me to explain this sense or feeling I had throughout the experience. My grandmother and I must have been in some other reality or dimension that allowed both of us to bridge the divide of the veil and communicate with one another.
This again reinforced me and confirmed the notion that the separation that occurs is only a separation between our human constructs. The spiritual and emotional connections we have with our loved ones are always there and will always be there. That cannot be separated. My grandmother and I were able to communicate and connect with one another once again. This time it was on a soul level. When it comes to the soul or the spirit there is no separation.
The fascinating part for me now is to see if this develops into anything. I now wonder if I will be able to communicate with her again in this fashion or maybe even others. I guess time will tell. These are truly some of the great things you experience and learn as you travel along this journey of light. And what an amazing journey it is.

| Thomas, thank you for sharing this dream! This is indeed a wonderful example of how truly connected we always are, all the time. It's the most wonderful and beautiful experience, isn't it? We do have that capacity within us, and our dreams are a perfect example of what can happen. I imagine you can still breathe in that experience, and use the energy of that dream to once again connect with your grandmother on a conscious level. It's as though through your dream, your cells have been re-awakened to their potential. Your entire being has been reminded of its connection--and especially to the connection with your grandmother! How exciting for you. And, yes, I would say that you have also "awakened" to a new level of dreaming, and these kinds of dreams should come again for you. I know your grandmother must be excited, too, for such a loving encounter with her grandson. You've shared something so very real about our potential in these bodies, and in doing so, you've reminded us that we aren't just these bodies. And that's the best reminder, too, isn't it?
