Blog: Journey of Light
I was reading a blog entry by Liora Leah today called Mother Speaks: Hurricane Katrina. Within the post, Liora Leah shares with us a message that Mother Earth communicated to her regarding the causes and reasons for Hurricane Katrina. You can read this message and I recommend you do at the following link:

After reading Mother Earth’s message I had somewhat of an epiphany. Her message made me think about the changes occurring on this planet from a completely different perspective. A spiritual perspective. Like the rest of us, I was heretofore only thinking about it from a human perspective. There was a large part of me even in spite of my strong spiritual connection that did not understand the purpose or reason for such horrific natural disasters such as the tsunami and now the recent hurricane. Why is it that so much destruction, pain, suffering and death occurred? What was the purpose? Is this just another example of human beings at the mercy of an unforgiving world, or is it just fate or even the punishment from an Old Testament type of God? While I didn’t necessarily believe these were the answers, I was not sure of what the answer was. But now I have an understanding or a way of viewing these events which makes sense to me and for that I am thankful.
The way I now understand these events is that they are a part of a grand plan of spiritual evolution. This spiritual evolution has two components a micro and a macro. The micro deals with the changes in consciousness and energy that is occurring right now in each one of us whether we realize it or not. And the macro aspect is the changes in consciousness and energy that is also occurring right now within Mother Earth. What I did not realize before is that these two processes inextricably linked are occurring exactly at the same time. They are happening right now before our very eyes. And how could they not. If the individual elements that make up the whole are changing then the whole must change as well. It is comparable to the human body. If the cells within your body began to change, how can there not be a resultant change in the body as whole? One aspect cannot remain static while the other is in motion.
The Earth is no different. Our planet is a living organism which has many parts that make up a whole. Her waters are like our blood, the land masses and plates are like our muscles, all of us including animals and insects are like cells that move within her body. And neither of us can sustain life without the all important element of oxygen. The systems we have within us that help sustain our lives are also present within her. The Earth has natural processes to break down nutrients, replenish depleted systems, re-grow injured or failing parts, warm her when she is cold and cool her when she is warm. She is able to heal just as we are able to heal. There is a power that lies within her that also lies within each and every one of us. It is the energy and light of our creator.
This is the process of spiritual evolution that we are now engaged in. So many cultures throughout the world have myths and legends of a time when all of humanity was united and one with their creator and somewhere along the way that unity was shattered and the separation began. Whether it was the banishment from the Garden of Eden or some other event of legend and myth, we separated ourselves from God. We then proceeded through centuries of trying to figure out who God was. Is God the sun, the moon, or the elements of the Earth? Think how many centuries were spent just trying to figure out who God was and how we could make him happy? How could we make him love us and show favor upon us. Should we make sacrifices out of the animals or even out of one another? So many lifetimes spent trying to figure out what would do the trick.
Eventually this desire to please God began to separate us from one another as people began to take sides on who was right and who was wrong. Who had God’s favor and who did not. This introduced the desire for power. The search for God was left on the curb of civilization as humanity pressed forward on a road called need. At the end of this road lay power and wealth. For those who did not desire these things and chose to search for something greater, they were blinded by religion and forced to believe in a God of man’s own creation. A God personified with the best and worst of human traits and emotions. This was a God who was capable of love, but was equally capable of hate, judgment, condemnation, need, and desire.
As these civilizations began to grow and conquer one another, they began to separate themselves from the Earth as well. There were no more thanks for bountiful harvests or respect given to the Earth Goddess or the nature spirits. Man took but no longer gave.
And when they found those who were still connected to the land and worshiped her, they destroyed them with their swords and their plagues. Thousands of native cultures were lost to time in this pursuit of power, wealth and glory. Cultures which revered the land and lived in harmony with the Earth were destroyed with callous disregard for their ways of life. These were people who understood that they were linked to the land and where suffering, pain or death arose in one, it inevitable affected the other. They understood and respected this age old symbiotic relationship. But this sacred knowledge was all but lost through the centuries.
Only now as a planet are we beginning to realize the folly of our past. Our religions no longer make sense. Our ideas of who God and who we are no longer fit into the nicely compartmentalized notions fed to us by the priests and clergy of yesteryear. And we are no longer satiated by the power, wealth and glory that were once all we could desire. So many of us have asked the all important questions of who is God, who am I and why am I here. We all have this feeling within us that is bubbling up to the surface that there must be more to all this then at first there seemed.
This questioning is the beginning of what I would call the micro aspect of the spiritual evolution. Once these questions are asked a passion or burning is stirred within us. We want to know more. We want to learn all we can about who God really is and so we search out other cultures, religions and belief systems. We venture into a world of spirituality where we learn that God loves us unconditionally. That God makes no judgment on who or what we are. That we are loved irregardless. We learn that we are made in God’s image and have the power to create our lives as we choose. We have the right to choose happiness, joy, love, health and abundance. But in order to take back that power and receive our very birthright, we must let go of the old illusions, limiting and negative thoughts and former habits to be open enough to receive the joy that awaits us. And this can be painful for it will bring up our past, old emotions and tragic memories that we have kept buried and hidden for so many years. We must bring forth those parts of ourselves we have been afraid to shine in the light of truth.
It is in essence a process of releasing the old energies we allowed to reside within us and fester and damage us. These old energies left unreleased led to the illnesses and diseases that plaque us still. Yet what must be remembered is that this is not a process that is meant to torture us, force us to suffer or cause us more pain. Instead, it is a process that is geared to free us. And that freedom allows us to receive the joy that God has held in trust for us. God has held it in God’s palm waiting for us to finally realize that it was always there and was always ours.
The spiritual evolution occurring within each of us will stream forth like a chain reaction. We will begin to reach unity with each other, with nature, with Mother Earth and most importantly with God.
Yet there is a second part to this equation. The micro changes will inevitable force macro changes. These macro changes are also occurring right now within Mother Earth. She must prepare herself for this rising of consciousness. As with us, she is releasing the old energies that resided within her that have caused illness and disease to the important parts of her being. She is trying to restore the balance that once existed. The systems that govern her body and allow her to remain healthy are being restored whether we like it or not.
But this also can be and is a painful process. As she restores her waters and prepares her lands there are the harmful side effects of destruction, death, pain and suffering felt by humans and animals. And so this makes it difficult for us to understand that these are necessary processes. The Earth must release these energies and bring balance once again. Not to punish us, but to prepare a world where we can experience our new found joy. So that Mother Earth can reflect the joy that we have found within ourselves. What good would it be if humanity was able to experience an inward joy in a world that could not reflect that joy outwardly? How could that joy be experienced in our lives if the basic necessities for life could no longer be sustained on this planet? What we must remember and focus upon is that as with the changes occurring within us, the end result is joy. Once balance is reestablished, we will be able to truly enjoy all the fruits of Mother Earth’s labor and appreciate the bountiful harvest she provides. Joy will finally live within us and within her. The micro and macro aspects of life will have finally evolved.
I know that some will read this and say well that is easy for him to say, his house wasn’t destroyed and his loved ones weren’t killed. And that’s true and I actually think they would be justified in saying that I probable would say the same thing if I was in their shoes. But along with everyone else I am trying to understand why these things are happening. For me, I choose to rely on my spirituality and on my connection with God to provide the answers. And this is the only answer or persepctive that makes sense and brings me comfort. For although I am not in their shoes today, who is to say that I will not be tomorrow.

thanks so much, thomas! this is wonderful!! I have had similar thoughts muddling through my head yet you have stated things so very clearly! I know the Earth is working on her own spiritual evolution, and I know that we humans are working on ours, but I wasn't really clear how very intertwined the two processes are-the microcosm and the macrocosm, as you state.
Have your ever read any Kryon channelings? Kryon is a feminine group energy that is channeled by Lee Carroll--She talks about the very issues that we as humans find to be so painful and hard to comprehend--humans who have chosen to leave the planet through their dying (as in the tsunami and most recently Katrina hurricane) in order to assist with the spiritual evolution of both humans and the planet:
excerpt from: http://www.kryon.com/k_chanelDC05.html "Mass Human Death"
"The final one, dear Human, is the hardest one for my partner and the one we wish to leave you with in this channeling tonight. This is the one that my partner doesn't want to even have me talk about. It's the appropriateness of mass death. For you, built in to your very essence is the honor for life, and the sorrow when it passes. It's correct and appropriate that this is there, and never let it be tempered. But the wisdom of understanding is also needed to help you get past some challenges of the Human heart.
'Dear Kryon, was the tsunami really necessary?' Yes it was. Almost 200,000 Human Beings passed over. It's an event that for you is filled with horror, sorrow, emotion, and challenge. Back in 1989, we told you of those that might have to leave the earth en masse, and here it is. Yet even my partner [Lee] asks the questions, 'Why the children? Why the poorest parts of the earth? Why the seeming inappropriateness of all this death?'
And I say to you the same thing I said with respect to Terri (Shiavo): Do you understand yet that death is often as precious as life on this planet of many energies and lessons? They are not gone! They're all here [speaking from Kryon's perspective]. They're having a great time! They're joyful! It seems like a moment ago they leaned into the wind of birth with us beside them. We said, 'How would you like to participate in an event that will change the compassion factor of the planet so that energies can move forward and provide faster acceleration of vibratory shift? How would you like to help create peace on earth through a consciousness shift within Gaia itself?' And they said, 'Show us the way!'
Do you understand why we are in love with humanity... that you would love the earth and the Universe so much that you would go through these things? So much of what you see is horrible tragedy, yet you're looking at the heroes of humanity as they deliver a gift that will change the very fabric of Gaia through the compassion created as a wave of humanity responds to their plight.
They knew the potentials and they went through with it. Even the children knew, for they're old souls within their divinity. There was so much compassion created at that time, in that one week, the earth has never seen anything like it in your lifetime. Billions of Humans were involved with a compassion that instantly went to the core of the planet. It went into the earth and it's still there. It changed the actual energy of where you walk and it planted a seed that will grow that will indeed emerge later in Israel, and those surrounding Israel.
And that's what it's about. Yet some of you didn't want to hear that, did you? But they're here, with me now... and with you as well. How could you fit them all in this room, you might ask? They can fit on the head of a pin! That's interdimensional talk. They can go home in your purse or your pocket! That's interdimensional talk, too. And they've got a message for you that we've given before, but you can't hear it enough: 'We did our part - now you do yours, Lighthouse! For the ones who remain are the only ones who can manipulate the tools we have helped create.'"
