Blog: Journey of Light
Back in February of this year I left a job in the legal field where I had worked for almost six years. The job itself was no longer bringing any joy into my life and was actually causing me a lot of undesired stress and frustration. I left work on a Friday and on that Monday I flew out on my own to Sedona, Arizona. I spent a full week in Sedona and received much needed rest, relaxation and nurturing for my body, mind and spirit. While I was out there, I was taught a visualization/meditation to transmute negative or discordant thoughts, feelings, emotions and images into positive energy. I have used this visualization with a few minor adaptations of my own from time to time and have found it to be very helpful in my personal growth.
To begin the visualization, close your eyes and focus on your heart center. Picture yourself entering into your heart center. Think of it as a great big room and make sure it is a grand and beautiful room. Mine was more like a hall with white marble on all the surfaces. Within this room picture a large fireplace, stove, furnace or something else that fits with your visualization with a fire burning in it. Know that this fire only burns logs and can in no way harm you. You are always protected here. Next to this fireplace, visualize a large stack of wood. This wood has been finely chopped into perfect logs and they are piled neatly on the floor. As you stand in front of this fireplace, take hold of one of the logs and hold it with one hand. Then see in your other hand a marker, paintbrush or something else you can write with. Use that marker to write on the log whatever thought, feeling, emotion, image you have that you no longer choose to create or keep within yourself. The things you write on these logs are completely up to you. Some examples might be emotions like fear, hate, envy, guilt; thoughts that you aren’t good enough, that you’re overweight, or not smart enough; feelings of being shy, unwanted; or negative images of yourself or others. Simple write down on the log whatever it is in enough detail that it makes sense to you. Make sure that you only write one thing on each log, otherwise you will probable have that one log filled to the brim.
Once you have written something on the log. Take it and throw it into the fire. Now this is a special kind of fire. It is very hot and burns anything that is thrown into it very quickly. Think of it almost like an incinerator. As soon as the log is thrown into the fire it has already been burned up. Do not try to fight the fire or control it. If you find yourself doing this or you see the log taking a long time to burn this means you are resisting the process and trying to hold on. Be free of whatever it is you have chosen to let go of. Be free of it. Now as you throw the logs into the fire (you can throw as many in as you want to) you will begin to feel the warmth fill the room. The warmth of this fire is also special as it seeps into and fills your entire body, mind and spirit. As it warms, it is filling you with positive energies and is helping to bring balance to your entire energy system. It is also a symbol of the warmth and love your creator has for you. Again, do not resist. Allow yourself to feel this warmth on as many levels as you are comfortable with. When you have finished, thank God and yourself for helping to cleanse and reinvigorate your body, mind and spirit.
Now that you have created this visualization for yourself, know that this is always here for you any time you want it. The fire never burns out and the room never disappears as it is a creation of your own mind and spirit. Simple place your focus on your heart center and return there.

Your message strikes me as the real deal, something that will demonstrate that reality is the product of our minds. I'm a Katrina evacuee in the midst of the heaviest stress I've ever had to endure and this technique is going to help me move through these trying times with ease. Thanks.

No problem. For me life is all about sharing. I'm glad you decided to use the visualization to help you during what must be a difficult time. What a wonderful testament of will and hope you are for the rest of us.
May God's blessings be with you on your journey.
