I first heard about Bruno Gröning from a friend of mine who picked up a pamphlet about him at the New York New Life Expo which was held earlier this year. The pamphlet was an advertisement for the playing of a film about his life. As we were interested in the topic of spiritual healing, my friends and I decided to go see the film. This was a big commitment as it was five hours long. Although this was a long time to watch any movie, we wanted to learn more about this man who had been termed a modern day miracle healer.
The movie itself was done very well. It covered everything from his childhood to his death and all the important details in between. Combined with all of the biographical information were the most wonderful testimonials from those whom he had helped facilitate healing. It was so inspiring and heart warming to listen to people who were once crippled by illness and disease reborn into healing and health. You could hear the utter joy in their words and feel their loving energy even through the screen. It was simple amazing. Several of those who had been healed, created the Burno Gröning Circle of Friends to help promote his teachings. They have a lot of great information about him, his teachings, and testimonials from those who were healed. Apparently, he is one of the most highly documented healers.
The web site also talks in depth about his philosophy on healing. Basically, he believed in an all powerful healing energy that comes directly from God. He termed this the healing stream or heilstrom in German. This divine energy has been recognized by many cultures around the world and been given different names such as life force, vital energy, prana, chi, or divine power. In order to access this healing stream, one has only to tune into it. The tuning in process is similar to entering a meditative state. You first relax your body and then try to clear your mind of all distracting thoughts. Bring your attention into your body and connect with it there. Do not focus on any one particular part of the body, but instead focus on its entirety.
Bruno felt that the position of your body was also important. If possible, he recommended people sit up with their back as straight as possible. Your hands should rest in your lap palms up. The most important part is to make sure that neither your arms nor your legs are crossed in any way. He likened the human body to a battery. If the arms are crossed it can cause an electrical short in the upper body and if the legs are crossed it can cause a short in the lower body. If you are not able to sit up, you can lay down. Just make sure your palms are up and no limbs are crossed. And most importantly relax. Check in with your breathing once in a while and make sure that you are taking nice cleansing deep breaths. Don’t try to hold your breath or unnaturally slow it down.
I actually went to an introductory meeting held by the New York branch of the Circle of Friends. At the meeting the moderator gave everyone a very helpful tool to assist in the tuning in process. She used the acronym of DARE. I guess you can think of it as DARE to heal. The DARE stands for Detach, Allow, Receive and Experience. Broken down, the detach stands for detaching from your illness. So many times when someone is sick or in dis-ease we become focused only on the illness. We allow it to become a part of us and in some instances to define us as a person. So we must detach from this illness and recognize that we no longer choose to be sick or ill. This illness no longer serves us, so we must let it go and detach. It is unfortunate, but many people have a hard time in letting go of their illness as it has served them in some way. Be true and honest with yourself. I believe that we are all creators and have created everything in our lives. If this is so and you also believe in your power of creation, than you must ask yourself why you created this illness or disease in your life. Bring the light of truth to it and set it and yourself free.
The allow part speaks to our ability to allow God to move through us and heal our bodies. Our egos are constantly fighting to stay in control. We want to be the one to heal. We want to be the ones in charge of our lives. The art of allowing can be really difficult for some as you are literally letting go and letting God. It takes a lot of trust to hand over our illness to God, but believe me that God is more than willing to take it from you. You have only to intend for it to be so. Receive is exactly that. You must be open to receive the healing energy. Remove any blocks or doubts from your mind or body that would impede the flow of loving healing energies from God. Lastly, the experience is about sitting back and noticing exactly what is going on inside your body. Feel the healing energies enter and spread throughout your entire body. It may be felt as a tingling or a warming sensation. Healing or health is not just a state of being, but rather an experience within which the healed receives the greatest freedom and joys they have ever known. Revel in the joy and happiness you receive through this healing time.
It is very important that you remember above all else that it is not you who is the healer but God. It is God who has created this healing stream and it is God who is entering your body to bring about the highest good and the highest healing. Give thanks only unto God. This was an important teaching of Bruno Gröning. Many people would come up to him after being healed and give him thanks, but he told them over and over again give thanks to God for it is God who has healed you not me. With God all things are made possible, nothing is incurable. This was another important teaching of Bruno. You must believe that God is the greatest healer and that nothing is too difficult or too far gone. God along with each of us is a creator of infinite possibilities.
An important facet of this spiritual healing which Bruno taught was what he called the regulations. In essence the regulations are the pains of healing. He had found that some people during the healing process felt greater pain or an increase in severity of their symptoms. This is the same principle or idea behind what most of us know as the healing crisis. It is the crisis right before the healing. Bruno warned that it is up to the person to determine which is stronger the healing or the illness. This is the precise moment where the individual must choose whether to be continually shackled by their fears of illness and disease or be reborn in the freedom and joy of health and healing. As the knight says to Indiana Jones in the Search for the Holy Grail, “Choose wisely.”
This is just a brief summary of some of his teachings. For a greater in depth study you should check out the web site, do some online research or even find a good book about him. My only caution would be to remember that Bruno Gröning is an example of our own human potential and not another figure to be worshipped or prayed to. He was here to show us not what he was capable of but what we all are capable of within the realization of our own divine power. You and I are just as powerful as Bruno Gröning or any other spiritual miracle healer that has ever existed. The only thing that limits us is us. Therefore, do not give away your power to anyone or anything whether it is a religion, a saint or a prophet. We are divine creators seeking greater unity with each other and God. We are all here to re-member this simple fact.

Thank you for posting that, Thomas.
And by the way: the right translation for Heilstrom is "healing CURRENT".
I know practically everyone writing about Groening in English is using the translation"healing STREAM", but that is incorrect (although etymologically appropriate). I thought your entry deserved the correction, if you know what I mean. ;)
I *know* for a fact that such "healing currents" do exist and work.
I only wish the Bruno Groening "Friends" would write in detail about the cause of Bruno's own death at the age of 52.
You may find it hard to believe or not), but the fact that he died so young - and he also lost a son (though the circumstances are totally unknown to me) - might be the main obstacle for many to adopt his method (which is perfectly in line with everything written in the New Testament, for example, or in writings about Yoga, by the way).
Transparency, clarity, honesty are always the best policy - and a MUST when it comes to "faith healing" and such. People are doubtful as it is; there is no need to offer further fodder to them and to so-called "skeptics".
So, if you happen to know or meet any of BG "Friends" or biographers, please let them know that they are doing him and his method a great disservice by keeping silent about the reason of his death.

I guess those whom I've heard complaining about the lack of information on the subject of his death simply weren't paying attention. ;)

Just surfing on Internet, and saw your mail re. BG. I'm a BG friend for 3 years already, and have experienced many healings already. Just to let you know that there is absolutely no secrecy about the circumstances
of BG's death. I would advise you to see the film, as the circumstances of his death is all explained in the BG film. Mr Groening was forbidden from healing, and
therefore he could not use his healing powers, and as a consequence he was burnt inside by the healing
stream. (Because he couldn't use it) Incidentally it is quite common for spiritual teachers to die young.
It isn't really important how long you live! He used his neck to 'transform' the healing stream, that's why he had a big neck! In connection with the death of his sons, I can tell you that a very important part of the teachings of
B G is the 'free will' of the people. His wife forbade him from healing his sons himself, as she wanted them to go to be treated in hospital. Mr Groening did what his wife asked, although he knew that they would not survive the hospital. I hope this helps! Regards Lady Louise

According to what I have read, Bruno had 2 sons who died - his wife did not believe in Bruno's method of healing and hid the fact that the boys were ill from him. They died years apart.
Also, according to my reading, he was not able to practice his healing methods and so much healing current was stored in his body that the currents burned his "insides"... when they opened his body for an autopsy apparently they discovered his stomach had been charred, as if by fire.

Hi there. The cause of Bruno Gröning's death is not totally illuminated. It might also be of less interest for those who have received spiritual help and or healing from contact with Bruno's teachings. Nevertheless, I will shortly comment on the circumstances surrounding his death:
1. Prior to his death Bruno had for some time been forbidden to speak in public and also had been forbidden to "heal" anyone publicly too. The reason for this was that the authorities, including some doctors and clergymen, in the newly founded West Germany in general saw him as a threat to their way of doing things (my interpretation) and they used a law, that was instigated in 1939 under the Nazi rule, whereby they accused him of healing people without the right authorisation. Also, there had been a sad case of a person that died after one of Bruno's ill-advised helpers had claimed - without Bruno's consent - that Bruno could heal the person. Bruno had previously rejected to be able to heal this person as the person was in the terminal stage of a disease, and had instead instructed the family to bring this person to the doctor/hospital (in parenthesis; Bruno always advised people to follow their doctors orders). After the death, the family of the diseased took legal action against Bruno, which only added to the hostility by the authorities towards him.
2. Bruno himself said that the ban on giving public lectures and not being able to use his healing powers in the open in West-Germany, made him burn up inside from the healing power/fire, that he was a transformer of.
3. Bruno could have chosen to have moved permanently to say France, where no such ban existed. Instead he chose to remain for the most part in West-Germany, since his mission was to help the people of his own country primarily.
4. Prior to his death, Bruno underwent surgery. The Doctor reported that part of his internal organs, as I remember it primarily part of his stomach and/or the digestive system, was literally gone, that is, as if it had been burnt away. The later autopsy revealed mostly the same, but as I again remember it, the cause of death was put down as due to "stomach cancer", primarily owing to the unfamiliarity of the aforementioned 'burnt away tissue' observation. After his initial surgery and until his death, Bruno actually was able to eat, which may seem contradictory to the fact that his digestive system had been damaged badly. Then again, Bruno had since childhood performed strange acts that included the healing of himself from say being scolded by boiling water, so that he may also have been able to process food without a proper functioning digestive system.
5. Bruno was a - in lack of a better term - a 'natural born Yogi'. Not many in the East were ever born with the same capabilities, nor have they very rarely achieved similar abilities (Ramalinga and other Siddha's excluded). Bruno recognized the work of Swami Yogananda after his Autobiography became available in West-Germany, but had as such no contact with yogi's during his lifetime.
6. Bruno had two children born by his first wife (whom he later separated from). From the books by Alfred Hosp, one learns that these two souls were close to Bruno being related to his previous spiritual life and that it was never meant that they would live beyond childhood. They were spiritually very advanced and together with Bruno went around in the German countryside recognizing previous places where temples and other monuments had once been placed, that is, related to their previous incarnations together on earth. His first wife was an opponent to Bruno's use of the healing powers - and that most certainly may have added to both the childrens early deaths and the subsequent divorce. However, the main reason that the children died were the aforementioned karmic dispositions - that is according to Bruno himself as mentioned in the recollections of Alfred Hosp in his published trilogy concerned with the life and teachings of Bruno.
7. Bruno's demise and death was due primarily to the cynicity of the 'commissioners' of Western-Germany at the time. Since then, fortunately a number of German doctors and medicinal staff have come to recognize the value of Bruno's teachings and life.

Thank you for writing about this. I am a member of Circle of Friends, living in India. I have experienced a number of healings, with symptoms disappearing immediately, and no recurring symptoms. This is an amazing practice, and it is helpful for the whole family, including our world family.

Hi there. A couple of points that may help in assessing the work and teachings of Bruno Gröning:
1. In a statement he made himself (for reference; see Alfred Hosp; Der Geist bestimmt die Materie, 1998) in 1955 - that is 6 years after he was being widely recognized for the extraordinary healings that took place in connection with his presence - he stated that it was actually he himself who send out the wawes of healing. Later on, in the very last years of his life, when being persecuted in court by the authorities and while also being forbidden to speak in public, he rephrased this notion into that "I do not heal, but IT leads to healing".
2. He never asked to be adored, nor did he take money from anyone for the help he provided. Some of the people who were supposed to help him in providing contacts to doctors that were open for collaboration with him and also shield him somewhat from the enormous amount of people who wanted his help, actually did make money from these sick people. This was much to the chagrin of Bruno, who then had to severe his ties with these "helpers".
3. Bruno taught the way of Christ. He was born and raised as a Catholic, but did not attend church. He believed in and was fully aware of the spiritual world and collaborated with a number of spiritual beings, some of which are named in the books of Alfred Hosp. Reincarnation was a fact for him too.
4. Bruno is a spiritual friend, not a guru nor a saviour. He helps those who need and aks him for spiritual help and guides you too, that is if you ask for his guidance. His ability to heal is extraordinary as witnessed by the many success stories. The dispensation he has been given to break through the darkest and most dense matters in and around humans beings, animals, plants and the globe itself to provide healing, e.g., at the cellular and molecular level, is unmatched.
