How does God want our bodies? Do you suppose He wants them to resemble (at least somewhat) His initial plan? I believe that is exactly what God wants for us. That being said why are so many Christians suffering with weight gain and nutritional deficiency diseases?

I believe that in our ignorance we have conveniently forgotten what God's plan is for our health and bodies.

    3 John 1:2 (KJV)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

    Proverbs 3:7-8 (NLT)
Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil. Then you will gain renewed health and vitality.

    Isaiah 58:7-9 (NLT)
I want you to share your food with the hungry and to welcome poor wanderers into your homes. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help. "If you do these things, your salvation will come like the dawn. Yes, your healing will come quickly. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind. Then when you call, the LORD will answer. `Yes, I am here,' he will quickly reply.

From those few passages of scripture we know that God wants us in good health. The book of Proverbs is full of passages dedicated to eating and health. The book of Leviticus lays out an eating plan. Why are we not following God's health plan for us? Is it disobedience? Could it be sin? Could it be the temptation of junk food and laziness?

Could we benefit from from more exercise? Definitely. We need to make time to get active and dedicate that time to God. This time can be spent walking, doing aerobics or weight training but all through that exercise time you can be praying and fellowshipping with your creator, soon enough the time goes by and you feel physically energized as well as spiritually energized.

Of course that doesn't mean that every one of us should be super skinny! God has created each one of us differently with unique physical and emotional traits. Some people are large boned and framed others are petite, some tall and some short etc. Because of that fact, we all cannot just fit a mold and be the same weight and stature. But for every unique human creation there is an ideal weight and health that can be attained. Remember all things are possible to those who believe in Jesus Christ.

A great many people are addicted to food and pick it up to eat when they aren't even hungry. The reasons vary from boredom, availability and emotional stress. Some of the addictions are geared towards salty snacks, sweets and yes our favorite - chocolate! The number one reason for the addictions and the reason they are out of control are because they are not even addressed. It's hard to address an addiction that is something you cannot live without. Other addictions such as smoking, drugs and alcohol are a little easier to deal with as you have the option to quit cold turkey! With food that just isn't an option, with out it we wouldn't survive.

Of course there is an answer to all of this and God has it! We need to seek Him and His Wisdom. It is possible to attain health and well being through your diet and live a healthy lifestyle.

In future entries I hope to address exercise, diet and diet fads, prayer, fasting, cleansing, purging and of course the most important - God's plan for our health revealed to us through His Word.

    John 8:31-32 (NLT)
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, "You are truly my disciples if you keep obeying my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

The reason they are over weight is simply because they can't change there minds. The first food god gave us was the fruit and then vegies. It never was ment for us to eat meat. Gos did say we could eat meat but only after he notice that we were gonna eat it anyways. Most christians are dead and can not see. They think what meant to be is whats meant to be. That being said anyone who believes in that saying can just do whatever they want and live a good life? a healthy life?
