Since my last posting I have been alternating hydrogen peroxide douche with RePhresh gel, trying every other day so one doesn't defeat the other, and no luck.
Always, by day 2 the itching and discharge are back. Is itching normal with BV? I've always had a problem with it but never read it listed as a symptom of BV - I wonder if I have mixed issues with yeast sometimes - but there is no mistaking the odor of BV so I'm sure that I have a problem there as well.

Today I decided to try something different - I have some Femdophilus capsules in the fridge that I tried (orally) and quit taking because they didn't seem to be working and honestly, I hate popping pills every day, they are meant for oral use but today I opened up 4 of them and inserted them vaginally. I'm not sure how that's going to work but it can't hurt. These capsules contain L. Rhamnosus GR1 and L. Reuteri. I didn't feel when I received them that they could be any good because they didn't arrive refigerated, thereby preserving the live bacteria, but I stuck them in the fridge anyway, hoping they might do some good.

    I'll keep you updated.

    • Response to BV out of control   by  #62806     18 y     2,508
I too have been battling BV for years and years. A bazillion doctors later and I finally went to one alternative doc who said it all starts in the gut. He said that the gut harbors the out of control bacteria first and the whole body gets out of whack and that is why it gets out of whack down there as well. He gave me some stuff that worked for awhile anyway. You take this by mouth and it kills the bad bacteria in the gut which then should help all over. Not a fast fix, but might help in the longer run.

Biocidin and Biotonic ... or the BioClear kit which includes a probiotic.

He told me to eat a clean diet and take the stuff. It will detox you at first and it really helped. Then I started into other things like bowel cleansing and liver flushing. I am not out of the woods, but it did get better for a long while. Now I am looking into other cleansing avenues as well.

      Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did go and buy some L. Reuteri yesterday that is supposed to contain something like 60 strains of good bacteria - you take this by mouth also. I'm going to give that a try. It might not be the quick fix, but it seems the good way and the right way takes real effort - the antibiotics are the "quick fix" that end up making matters worse. I think I'll try the hard way and see if I can get lasting results.

I'm sure to you this sounds like very sound advice... and just to dispel a few of your preconceived notions - I am not overweight, I weigh approx. 110, also I have a relatively healthy diet and get moderate exercise.

While it may sound like the things I am doing to my body, these 'experiments', if you will, are maybe only making things worse - I am not doing anything without some level of research and understanding about what my body needs in this situation to heal my problem.

Doing nothing, as any woman with recurrent BV knows, is simply not an option... though I thank you for your response.

Sorry Dear Lady...   I may have over stepped my bounds...   I never meant to imply you were large...

As I said; based on what I have done or seen done some times it good to stop and step back from one's problems...  I was sure that this is good advice for most things, but as you reply;  It is not necessary in your case...  Of course you know your case, and body better than anyone else...  Again I am sorry to have been so rude and crude as to imply anything else...

You seem to be a very intelligent young woman, who has done her homework was kind to even the crude and often ill placed remarks of a not so smart man...

Please keep up your fine posts and help for others...  I respect your excellent and well founded blogs...  Maybe one day we can do lunch and I will try to make it up to you...  Thanks again...

          See Ya...  Kermit
