Blog: BV - Bacterial Vaginosis
I'm so glad I did that. I was afraid it was going to be as bad as having it put in but apparently my body didn't mind getting rid of it. A tiny twinge and it was gone.
I am once again using the Vitamin C treatment for the BV that was just relentless while I had the IUD, and hopefully now that it's out I can treat successfully again.
I asked the OB/Gyn if she had any other suggestions for birth control, I am just amazed at how the medical community is trained to push the unnatural and discount the natural - even in the literature.
She said the best she could do without the use of hormones would be other barrier methods, condoms or diaphragm. I had to ask about natural family planning and she really tried to dissuade me from using it. She gave me some literature on it which basically said it was "best guessing" and discounted it also.
I haven't personally tried it but it seems like they would put more effort into the knowledge, education and technology to promote and continue this wisdom to young women rather than the obvious favor they give to "the pill" and other dangerous practices. It's a shame, really, that this information and wisdom is being lost through the generations. I know there are also combinations of certain herbs that inhibit pregnancy, I think some are poisonous or dangerous though, but not all. I know that Vitamin C is one and Hops is another but I'm sure someone could come up with a safe and effective method of natural contraception with just a little knowledge and effort.
I'll have to do some more reading, I have several herb and aromatherapy books, maybe I can create my own :) That would really be risky at this point but it would be kind of fun too.
Maybe one day ...

I use cyclebeads and I record my periods too. You should look into natural family planning.

glad to hear u got it out!!! I hope things will be better for you. I no about 10 years ago for at least 2 years I was just aware of my cycle and knew when not to have sex and I never got pregnant. I think if you pay attention for a couple months and keep track you can pretty much figure out whats happening ... that is if you are regular and im like clock work so it was easy for me. i think theres like 2 days before ovulation(cause sperm live 48hrs or something?-- Im not really sure right now its been awhile) and 2 days after or something like that? like they say you take your chances but if you figure it out should work pretty good?

I use a variety of methods myself, except for the thermometer for now. After my period, I have one day of dryness then the clear mucus starts appearing. After I ovulate, I know that I can wait for about three to four days then I can sex up till my period. the cycle beads are so easy to use. If a lady's menses is not regular the thermometer and cervical mucus method is best. I don't see why more people don't use NFP. It's no more trouble than inserting caps, taking pills, etc. and it's totally toxic poison free.
