Blog: BV - Bacterial Vaginosis
I've been taking this stuff for the last 4 days, I am starting to have some BV odor now, for the last 2 days. This is about the time I would normally do the Vitamin C, and I haven't because I wanted a true feel for how well the Femdophilus works.
But, as anyone who has this chronic problem knows, 2 days of this odor is 2 too many. I will probably do a Vitamin C tonight becuase the FemD isn't working well enough or fast enough.
I'll continue to take it - the purpose of it is to recolonize the vagina with good bacteria so if it really works, I'll never have the symptoms of again after this unless I inadvertantly do whatever it was that I did in the past to cause this bacterial imbalance. My guess as to the cause is antibiotic use.
When I was 18 and began to take Birth Control pills (which was also about the time I became sexually active), I also began to experience frequent Urinary Tract Infections, for which I was prescribed numerous types of antibiotics.
I remember the first time I was diagnosed with BV I was probably around 19. I was prescribed Flagyl. It went away for a time but eventually always came back. What really didn't help was that every time I had to take an antibiotic (for UTI or BV) I felt that I had a Yeast Infection afterward and would self-treat with OTC creams.
Yeast treatments will also cause bacterial imbalance which was not something I knew at the time. Here I am - 31 years old - and still dealing with this problem that began in my teens.
The BV didn't become so bad until I was 26 or 27 - I got an abnormal pap that was due to the BV but it showed something that was the precursor to precancerous (not quite at a precancerous state) - they put me on more antibiotics and it spiralled downward from there. I would not let them just blow me off (about the abnormal pap, they wanted me to take antibiotics, wait for 3 months!!! and then come back and test again) I was not happy to sit by for 3 months to see if I'd develop cancer or not. I went to several different doctors and got several different paps. All showing BV, abnormal - all the doctors did was keep putting me on more antibiotics and I kept taking them. I was sick to my stomach all the time, suffering from diarrhea, dizzy and ill.
And, through all this the BV kept getting worse and worse, the odor was completely unmanageable. I could smell it on me all the time, through my clothes. I was sure other people could smell it too. My boyfriend stopped giving me oral sex, and being the nice guy he is wouldn't say that was why but I knew. I didn't even want to go to work because I stunk all the time, I would go home at lunch and take a quick bath and change my underwear (even my pants sometimes) and tell people at work I spilled food on my pants if they asked, and then I would stink again by the end of the day. I tried heavier perfumes, scented pantiliners, anything to try and take the odor away.
Finally, I started my own research, which you can mostly read here in my blog, and although I have not found a way to cure myself I can at least have a normal life again and I feel certain that a cure will come.

Hey,
I read the small article you wrote on your drama with BV, it was as though I wrote it myself!!! I am still in shock..I am have been experiencing the same thing for TOO long a time!! the SAME forsaken thing..Abnormal Paps and all..The smell is now overpowerinng my life. I started taking FEMDOPHILUS by Jarrow it worked for a few months it is great stuff but BV has a way of creeping up. I am now faced with this smell AGAIN and the thought that everyone smells me is horrifying. I hate this and I'm so tired of it. I've been dealing with it since I was 17 and I am now 27. When I read your brief ventimg on this site I felt like I had to write and let you know this nasty little shit is putting other women through hell. If you have any suggestions, remedies, "potions"..(LOL) I will try them ALL......
