How does one defend one's belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in a day when some people are more ready to believe in Shirley McClaine?? Not that I don't like her but you know what I mean *lol*

That's the ironic thing about people who reject the Bible: they'd gladly accept any ancient discarded scrap of paper or modern fiction, from any source, but the Bible with its mountain of documented evidence isn't good enough. They require no support at all for their sources, but reject the Bible even though it exceeds all their demands for support.
Jesus has a few things Shirley and Buddha and all the rest don't have: a predicted and miraculous birth, sinless life, voluntary substitutionary death, and resurrection. Many people claim to "have God within" but I've never seen them walk on water, or raise the dead, or calm a storm with one word. (Besides, if everyone is God then no one is. And how the endless karma can a god forget (s)he is a god??)
In the end, as I said in the epistemology post, people have to decide how truth is determined. If feelings are the "standard" then there is no such thing as truth. But if evidence is the standard then truth is absolute. There is no evidence that reality can be changed by our thoughts or emotions. People who believe otherwise, who have no standards, cannot say whether anything at all is right or wrong or true or false, yet these same people will claim that Christianity is not to be tolerated because it claims exclusive truth! Can they not see the absurdity of this charge? It's hypocritical for people who don't believe in absolute truth to condemn those who do.

Bravo Lady.... I think you have hit the proverbial nail on the head, so to speak...
I too believe in the truth and do not wish to see so much other stuff passed as truth......
It becomes a real task for many well meaning people to come to grips with the truth, that is why we must pray and meditate on the word of GOD..... Than listen to the still small voice.... Messengers and others with the word will be sent to aid you (us) in our search for the absolute word of GOD.... To this I can testify!! Amen ... Sister keep up your great work in getting the word out to all those in dark places.... Thanks KO

Hi R2R,
I was wondering, what you thought about the use of EFT to clear emotional blockages and help heal health issues. Do you see anything in the practice that would go against biblical teachings.
Thanks,
Darlene

Hey Darlene, good question. Let's take a look at part of an article on EFT from Dr. Mercola's site (http://www.mercola.com/forms/eftcourse.htm):
EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem - whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. -- and voice positive affirmations.
This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmation works to clear the "short-circuit" - the emotional block -- from your body's bioenergy system, thus restoring your mind and body's balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.
Some people are initially wary of these principles that EFT is based on - the electromagnetic energy that flows through the body and regulates our health is only recently becoming recognized in the West. Others are initially taken aback by (and sometimes amused by) the EFT tapping and affirmation methodology, whose basics you will learn here.
But keep in mind that, more than any traditional or alternative method I have used or researched, EFT works.
One red flag that went up is those last two words: "it works". This ties in nicely with the message "does the end justify the means". Another one is "it's been used for thousands of years". Well, so has witchcraft, so we can't use that in support of it either. A third is "energy meridians", or channels. Unless he means a strictly scientific understanding of nerve impulses (which the context doesn't specify), he's talking about the ancient arts of the Hindus and Chinese. A fourth red flag is "voicing positive affirmations", another time-honored technique used by many religions and increasingly popular among many who claim to be Christian ("positive confession").
There are many good things to say about the trend to integrate traditional and western medicine, but when either of them delves into the spiritual or psychological, we're treading on dangerous spiritual ground. Although He was speaking metaphorically, Jesus' statement "if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away" might be said today as something like "if your desire for comfort/health causes you to take that first step in the wrong direction, better to not be cured". Our highest priority as Christians is to be found faithful, not comfortable or popular. So if something is questionable it's best to stay clear of it. I'm sure many sincere believers would see no harm in it, but I've been around long enough to know a "gateway" when I see one. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for leading anyone astray, especially when it raises all these red flags.

Darlene; Sorry to be slow on reply.... On EFT, I have not seen anything yet that has lead me to believe it is against scriptural teachings... We have used it in a limited since, and it does appear to have some positive neuron feedback, which helps with certain problems...
Like many things GOD has placed here for our edification, this seems to be another aid to help in our over all health... If you want more specific or have other questions, let me know.... We are glad to assist you...
