Manifestation
by Mary Barry
In the most literal sense, manifestation is identifying
what you want and creating it. According to New Age and biblical
philosophers, God or the universal collective is here to serve us by providing
us with our every desire. Matthew 7:7 reads: "Ask and it will be given
to you. Seek and you will find; Knock and the door will be opened to
you..." If you need further proof, the Lord's prayer has a passage that
talks about abundance available in life, "My cup runneth over..." We
cannot dispute that in scripture, the bounty that God has created is
available to all of us; we only have to ask.
If it were really as simple as just asking, then why isn't
everyone a millionaire, super model or dating hunky movie stars? Is
there a secret ritual to getting exactly what we want? There's no secret
ritual, but there are several reasons why what we end up with is much
less than what we are asking for.
One reason is that we don't know what we can get. Take a
fantasy that many of us no doubt have of Brad Pitt showing up at our door
with a dozen long-stemmed roses. Those of us who've been fortunate
enough to run into him might have had the pleasure of Brad's company for a
while, but the situation would probably have been short-term. Why?
Because we covet him for all of the wrong reasons. He's good-looking, has
abs you could serve dinner on, he's famous, he's rich... and none of
these reasons will support a foundation of love or friendship.
Our deliciously shallow hopes for Brad don't take into
consideration his hopes and dreams; we just want Brad the Hollywood star.
We might have him, but the Universe and Brad would probably deem that it
was for only a short time. Any dreams involving specific people will be
problematic, because we usually covet them for selfish reasons, when
true love is about supporting the dreams of our loved ones.
Another reason we couldn't get what we wanted in the last
example is that we cannot control another human being. Wishing for a
specific person to do, say or love us in a particular way won't work
because all humans possess free will. So even if you are in a relationship
with the man you want, it may not work out exactly the way that you
envisioned. He may not be inclined to giving long foot massages, sitting
through Meg Ryan movies or taking long walks in a park. If these things
are important to you, set your sights on a man who can provide these
things of his own volition instead of expecting a particular man to
exhibit these characteristics. Wish for a circumstance, rather than a
specific person.
Another reason many of us don't have what we want is
because we believe that the things we desire are out of our reach. What about
those lottery tickets you buy every week? Do you really snicker and
stuff them away secretly knowing that you'll never really win? If you do,
then you're not helping your cause. When I was in college, my friends
and I would dream about the kind of lives we wanted. We'd get really
outrageous with our predictions, and each time we'd screech with laughter
and exclaim, "Oh, yeah! That's really gonna happen!"
You probably already know that my big dreams never happened
for me and maybe it was because I never believed they could really be
possible. Start off with a strong belief that your desired result is
possible, and you'll get closer to achieving what you want.
Now that you know about the things you shouldn't do,
identifying the things that you desire and how to manifest them is the next
step. In the mean time, practice strengthening your belief. Whether this
means repeating a daily mantra of abundance, writing your desires in a
daily journal or just identifying exactly what you want, begin your
process with the belief that it is all possible, and you will be half way
there!

- Some Advice Please by hopinso

Lapis, I have been enjoying the articles posted in this Blog, especially this one. I don't know if this is appropriate here, but I would like to ask how we can use this principle of manifestation for health problems. Right now I cannot walk without a walker. My greatest desire is to simply walk again, even if the pain remains, I want to walk. I have prayed about this, used Power Healing techniques, tried Quantum Touch (although the author admits self healing can be difficult with back problems). I have also been blessed with people doing energy healing and Reiki on me. Still, the weakness remains. What's even worse, I used to dream I was walking, running, even dancing; but more and more I am disabled in my dreams. Why is my sub-consciousness doing this? There is no benefit in this problem. I live alone, so it is not for attention or pity. I would appreciate any advice, tips, anything that might help. More and more it seems like surgery may be my only option, if indeed it is an option at all. I am more frightened than I have ever been.
PS-I was glad to see this was written by someone named Mary. I was a bit concerned that you wanted Brad Pitt at your door with a dozen roses :)
