Visualize What You Desire

Many ancient religions and spiritual teachings emphasize the importance of attending to our thoughts, because our life experiences are born there. With just a thought, an idea is born, which can then be shaped into something new. All mystics and spiritual gurus and masters are familiar with this process, and know that "as we think, so we become".
Fortunately, it's not necessary to monitor each and every thought, even if such a thing was possible! It's enough to allow ourselves to visualize with whatever senses we use in our imagination an image or a feeling or a tactile awareness of what we most desire. These strong feelings linked to clear intentions together create a wish... the visualization is like the list of what we want written out as a letter to the universe, and our feelings of desire for it are like the postage stamp we affix to the letter. It's just as important to indicate what we want as it is to attach proper postage!
One of my favorite examples of visualizing what we want is in the movie, Mary Poppins, in the scene where the two little children are wishing for the perfect nanny. They sing a song of all the attributes of their perfect nanny, they write all these things down on a list, and then deliver the list to their parents. Their father is outraged at the idea of the children selecting a nanny with such preposterous attributes, and he tosses the list into the fireplace, where it catches an updraft and floats away into the clouds... where Mary Poppins finds it!
The beautiful thing about this movie's depiction of visualization is that it feels like there's a lot of truth to it. We need to visualize clearly what we want, power that visualization with all our desire and love, and then let go of that wish.
Just remember to be careful what you wish for... you just might get it!
