  • Yeast Infections   by  Dr.Jeff     12 y     4,240       2 Messages Shown       Blog: The Candida Expert’s Blog
Vaginal infections are commonly related to candida albicans. Some sources indicate that most vaginal infections are caused by bacteria (bacterial vaginosis), not yeast/fungus. Unfortunately, the medical profession takes a knee-jerk approach to diagnosis and treats the majority of these as yeast infections. This can prolong the condition and contribute to ongoing vaginal flora imbalances, as well as misinforms the patient.
There is still much to be learned about the regulation and maintenance of these tissues, as they are involved in a complex dance between many systems in the body. Systemic and local imbalances created by the use of antibiotics appear to be one of the main contributing factors to vaginal infections. I've heard many women relate to me their stories of being given round after round of antibiotics by an MD for some other problem, and then developing a "yeast" infection that never seems to go away.
Restoring systemic balance of the intestinal and body flora is usually essential to long-term success in resolving these issues. Restoring local balance in the vaginal tissues can sometimes be the more difficult task, and one that takes ongoing application for success. Factors that contribute to creating a balanced flora include immune responses, tissue flora (locally and in the intestinal tract), hormones, pH (in the acid range), temperature, food allergies, and even emotional/stress issues. Food allergies and emotional/stress issues are often overlooked and shouldn't be.
Below are some solutions that other women have come up with that produced some degree of success for them. Obviously, from the list presented below, the variety presented is representative of the complexity of this issue. If physical measures aren't successful, consider that stress/emotional factors may be playing a big role here, as stress can affect pH, immunity, and hormones together. Never overlook food as a possible cause or contributing factor.

    VAGINAL SOLUTIONS

Hydrogen peroxide douches are effective for immediate relief. Here's recipe that some have used with great success:

    1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide
2 quarts pure water (not tap!)
    effective probiotic

Place hydrogen peroxide in 2 quart douche/enema bag. Fill remainder of bag with pure/filtered water.

Douche with this mixture morning and evening for 5-7 days depending on severity of infection.

Follow with 2 days of douching morning and evening with a mixture of 2-3 dissolved capsules of probiotic and purified water to restore the good flora.

    --------

Try inserting through douch some pure aloe to sooth the tissues. You may want to start taking some to sooth and heal tissues internally as well. Iherb.com has a brand that is clear like water: George's Aloe Vera, 100% Aloe Vera, Half Gallon, (64 fl oz) (1.892 L) Never overdo douching as well. Good many a few days a month. Keep the douche nozzle not inserted deeply.

    ----------

Using Femdophilus or Flora Prime capsules inserted vaginally, twice a day

    ---------

    Douche with plain natural yogurt

    ---------

Fill 00 gelatincaps with boric acid USP from the drugstore and insert one in the vagina nightly before bed for 2 weeks

    ---------
Douche twice daily with a solution of one part iodine to 100 parts water

    ---------

Make an herbal tea (some types with antifungal properties - Thyme, Goldenseal, Echinacea, White Oak Bark, Buchu, Black Walnut Hulls, and Mullein leaf.), pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 tsp. of the dried herb and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and use as a vaginal douche when tea has cooled down.

    ---------
Pellets (to be inserted into the vagina over night) made of shea butter, essential oils of tea tree, cedar wood, and thyme; and extracts of neem and Calophyllum inophyllum would be a better, safer, and saner choice than rat poison.
To make vaginal pellets, simply melt the shea butter (or cocoa butter or coconut oil) in a pan on the stove and add the oils (and/or the herbs supra in powder form) and stir to a consistency. Allow the butter to cool down and harden. Next, make into pellets by rolling the butter in the palms of the hands. Place the pellets in the refrigerator so they can harden. Take the pellets out of the refrigerator about an hour before bedtime. Insert one pellet into the vagina.
… if you choose to douche, the solution should be all herbal and consisting of the following herbs: Red Raspberry Leaf, Thyme, Goldenseal, Echinacea, White Oak Bark, Buchu, Black Walnut Hulls, and Mullein leaf.

As I’ve mentioned douching is not normally recommended under any circumstances as it tends to create more problems than it solves. However natural douches can benefit vaginal health as they promote proper PH and healthy bacterial development when used appropriately. All water used should be filtered, as the chlorine in tap water is a known cause of yeast infections and can act as an irritant, even in small amounts. This goes as a rule for any type of douche you choose to use, including those already mentioned.

    Garlic Douche
Use 1-2 ground up cloves of fresh garlic and 1 L of warm water. Mix these two together to create as a douche solution. You can use two 500mg pure garlic capsules instead of the cloves if you prefer, although cloves are best. You can add 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar; mix and let stand for at least 30min for increased effectiveness. You may perform this douche for up to 3 days consecutively. Take a break for at least 1 day, then resume if needed.

    Cinnamon Oil Douche
This is highly potent and may cause some irritation so use caution and dilute it with olive oil or coconut oil. Use 1 part cinnamon oil to every 4-10 parts of a base oil. You can apply this oil directly to the vagina or you can use a cotton swab to gently apply a less concentrated dose.
Generally it is in your best interest to not use any strong essential oil directly on the skin or private parts, especially not for an ongoing period of time. If using a concentrated form be sure to only apply 1-2 times per day and only for a maximum of 3 days.

    Vitamin C Douche
You will need 1-2 tsp vitamin C and 1 L of water. Mix the vitamin C into the water and perform this douche up to 2 times per day for up to 3 days straight. Take a break for at least 1 day, then resume if needed.Lemon DoucheYou will need half a lemon and 1 L of water. Squeeze all the juice out of the lemon and mix into the water. Use a filter to remove any extra lemon pulp or seeds if desired. Douche with this mixture once every day for a severe infection and only douche once every other day for a mild infection. Discontinue after 5 days of use.

    Douches:
Use only one of the following douches at one time. Do not douche during menstrual periods. For first time or acute infection try the vinegar douche or boric acid capsules. For chronic vaginitis, use the herbal combination douche. For recurrent vaginitis, use the Betadine douche. Stop douching if you are in pain or your symptoms get worse.
    • White vinegar: 1 - 2 tablespoons to 1 pint of water. Douche daily for 10 - 14 days.
    • Boric acid: One capsule (600 mg) inserted daily for 10 - 14 days. May cause irritation or problems from absorption into the bloodstream.
    • Herbal combination: Mix equal parts of oregano leaf (Oreganum vulgare), goldenseal root (Hydrastis canadensis), and coneflower (Echinacea purpurea). Steep 1 heaping tablespoon of herbal mixture in 1 pint of water. Cool and douche daily for 10 - 14 days.
    • Povidone iodine (Betadine): Douche with one part iodine to 100 parts water twice daily for 10 - 14 days. Prolonged use can suppress thyroid function.

Basically it's inside the labia and around the vaginal entrance.
It doesn't burn but it itches and feels like tiny paper cuts and i haven't scratched.
So far I've found natural live cold yogurt to give some relief.
I guess I should buy some proper medication tomorrow :/
I've had some on n off again yeast infection symptoms all year n ive been on antibiotics twice this year I think.
