    Humorous stories: Mouse tales

This is a story about Peter. Well Peter was my friend and he was the cutest little mouse you ever did see. He would come every day and visit me in my kitchen and you know I was not afraid. He would run here and he would run there and I just plain got use to the little critter. We lived in Long Beach, California at the time, in a small Spanish Home that had a huge avocado tree. Yes, mice do love avocado trees.

So me and my husband decided that Peter had to go. I just hated the thought of mousetraps, so my husband went and bought some of that sticky paper. You know the kind, the mouse feet get stuck on the paper and then he tries to get loose and sticks his head down on the paper next. Well poor little Peter got stuck on the paper and to be humane, my husband placed Peter and the paper in a bucket of water and drowned him. We had a funeral for poor little Peter.

That night a complete miracle happened. Little Peter came running into my kitchen again. I screamed and almost fainted. Wait, we saw him stuck on paper, drowned him and then buried him, how could poor Peter be in my kitchen? So again we set another trap and caught poor Peter again and drowned him. Yes, we buried him in an even deeper grave this time.

Sure enough, okay quit laughing now, poor Peter comes running into my kitchen again. I screamed blood murder and ran out in the yard asking God to forgive me as I was surely going insane. My neighbor came over and told me, "Where you find one mouse, you will find six." So poor Peter wasn't poor Peter, but his brothers and sisters. Just as predicted, we ended killing six poor Peters and then one day the mama came running into my kitchen.

Lord, oh mighty, that was a mama in a half. She was absolutely huge and she did not fall for the sticky paper syndrome. So reluctantly, we had to buy a huge mousetrap with some cheese attached and we buried the mom of the many poor Peters. Moral to this story, many Peters can make you sad and very, very busy.
