Blog: 28 day water fast
i just finished up my classes for the day, and i have to say today was not as great as yesterday. I havent been having hunger pains, though I guess i have noticed a little hunger at different times today but they were just short little things that came and went, but I've just felt completely exhausted all day. I think its mostly because it's that time of the month as of yesterday, so it didn't have great timing but I wanted to stick with my plans for the fast because i know for me if i put it off i wouldnt start it with the same resolution as starting when i planned to and prepared to. anyway, i just feel completely foggy - not sleepy, but just exhaustion across my entire body, and I'm having trouble really focusing and absorbing things. It was the first day of classes today so I could just lie low kind of and its fine, but I'm looking forward to hopefully a better day tomorrow.
in one of my smaller classes today, my professor wanted us to hear a song to relate it to something else, and i'm not sure if it's the not eating, the pmsing, or just other things in general, but i just felt really really sad when i heard it, because it reminded me of someone and everything that has happened in the last year. feeling like that just reminded me kind of, after i had been feeling pretty tired and low energy all day and hoping it wouldnt be like this for the next week, that part of this fast is emotional and spiritual. part of it is to let myself feel those things and not try to keep them in but let them out entirely and feel them entirely so i can let go finally, i guess. i'm hoping tomorrow i'll have more energy, and i'd like to do some meditations tonight and have a chance to think, which is a large part of why i'm doing this as well. i'll post more tomorrow.. but energy wise, i thought that maybe drinking some tea would help out a little but i'm not sure if i want to because i feel like i'm cheating on my water fast - i want to really try an all water fast. what has everyone else done? have you stayed with all water or included teas? i'm not planning on making it into a juice fast or even to really include tea and i think today was just a very low energy day, but i was just wondering what others included in their fasts (would you even allow lemon in your water? i'm not sure if i would want to start this as i think it would kind of activate my digestive system when i'm supposed to let it shut down, and also i think i'd start to feel hunger more).

I have never tried a water fast, but after just finishing my first juice fast I wanted to share my method with you. I excluded all addictive substances/chemicals including sugar (except from fruit of course) and caffeine (from tea or otherwise.) I think with water only I would definitely abstain from such items because I would imagine I would be even more sensitive to them. I think non-caffeinated herbal teas would be fine, however.
