Subject: ALERT - COLORADO bill to add hepatitis a vaccine
Colorado HB 02- 206, sponsored by Senator Hernandez will add hepatitis a vaccine to the list of required vaccines for children entering kindergarten.
The bill was passed by the Senate Health, Environment, Children & Families on May 1, 2002.
The bill was amended to say "The department of public health and environment shall not implement the hepatitis a vaccination requirements until and unless federal funds and grants and donations become available to fully support the hepatitis a vaccination program."
This bill will be heard by the full senate next.
Please call your senator and tell him/her to vote NO on SB 206, the hepatitis a requirement. If you have time, call ALL the senators. Contact information for the senators is available at -- http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/stateleg.html
If the bill passes the senate, it will go to the house and have a committee hearing. It may be necessary to write letters to house members or have people testify if this bill is past by the full senate.
I am attaching a 2 page list of arguments against a hepatitis a mandate for Colorado.
