What happens if my girlfriend gets genital HSV 1

I had cold sores on my mouth, which I did not know to be HSV 1. I then gave oral sex to my girlfriend. If she does get genital HSV 1, what are the consequences? It's hard to find info on this on the internet because all the websites are talking about genital HSV 2. I'm praying that genital HSV 1 is much safer and less damaging then genital HSV 2. I'm praying that I didn't give it to her. Also, is there any chance, if she has genital HSV 1, that it will develop into genital HSV 2? And lastly, if she didn't get the genital HSV 1 from my cold sores, can I basically never give her oral sex again in fear of transmitting the virus?
