Re: Tampon left in for 3 weeks

I'm SO glad someone else posted about this - I've been scared out of my mind - and trying to get an appt. with an OB/GYN - for a long while now. After doing searches here on my symptoms - a watery brown discharge that only appears when my body is "excited" or I'm sexually active - I found info on "lost" tampons. I REALLY didn't think it could be possible & even asked my ex-bf if he could "feel" a tampon/foreign body inside me and he said no. Just to be on the safe side I did some self-checking tonight & there WAS an absolutely disgusting tampon lodged way up there that turned out to be the source of the brown fluid. I will call Planned Parenthood tomorrow & see if they feel I need further care but I am so relieved (yet horrified!) - I was imagining all kinds of terrible scenarios. The awful part is that I have absolutely NO idea how long the tampon was stuck there - I've had other tampons in since and have had intercourse. Thank you to the posters who gave me the idea to check!!! Tweet
