Tranquility-If I Knew Then What I Know Now

Hi Tranquility,
You are so lucky to have discovered this forum prior to any surgery. I only wish I had discovered it beforehand because I would not have had the surgery done.

Yes, I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Oct, and it's not always the quick, easy surgery that they lead you to believe. Instead of being off work about a week or so, I was off for over 6 weeks and am still having pain between my shoulder blades. I was told immediately after the surgery that there may be stones caught in the common bile duct because when they injected the dye, it did not flow through the intestines like they had hoped - weren't sure if it was spasms or stones caught!

Anyway, here I am today still in pain - it isn't as severe as a full-blown gallbladder attack, but it's still there. I am really beginning to wonder if something wasn't damaged while they were in there.

And something else, I was bruised from one end to the other around to my back on my right side and right down to my groin area after surgery. My GP told me she never saw anyone in such bad shape (and I'm not known to bruise easily) and thought that the surgeon must have thrown the hatchet at me - and get this he is considered one of the best in the area - go figure!

If I knew then what I know now, I would have flushed til I couldn't flush anymore rather than go through that agony. Think twice before you listen to the doctors.
