Thanks, the unit doesn't have an auto shutoff. It does have a green LED that gets progressively brighter to indicate conductivity, it does actually work. Distilled water starts very dim and after three hours it is solid green. I guess it is making ultra small particle CS as the manufacturer claims.

Good to know about the TDS meter.
