Depression is no joke, the fact that the majority of EC sufferers are destined to suffer from it shows how serious this condition is. There's great irony in the fact that damage to something so small can cause major havoc psychologically.

Personally, I haven't had 'suicidal thoughts' but I have thought of suicide (if that makes sense). When my EC was at its worst I would question how many other people would be able to live with the crippling anxiety and the humiliation that comes from going outside and having something go wrong and having something like white lips on show to the whole world. The answer is most people can, because, as this forum shows, most people are.

There's no reset button on life, if there was I'm sure many of us would've seriously considered it. Maybe next time we would eat healthier and take better care of ourselves from the get-go, maybe you'd be more gracious for the simple things in life like drinking straight from a bottle or being able to talk without having to worry whether a white line is appearing on your lips. But the fact is there is no next time on Earth. It's worth always remembering that, as far as I know, no one has lived with EC their ENTIRE life; and we can all manage it to an extent. It's inevitable that one day you won't have EC anymore.

All those things you wish you had done -- you can still do.
