That is what I thought, and I know the pictures I posted may not be as plain as they were looking at them on my phone, but, these things look identical to the flukes I see in my nose. They are rolled up, brown and in a couple of pics I just found off the apple piece, you can see the wavy edges of them. They look like a curly flower that's completely open (and completely ugly) or something. They also respond to light and moisture like the flukes. Are there other things that look almost identical to flukes?
The problem with ripping up the carpet is my roommate owns the house. This whole thing has already put a huge strain on our friendship (she has MS, to make it worse) and if I ask her to pull up the carpet, she probably will, but she's not going to put down anything else. I'm be walking on whatever they put down knowing it'll be carpeted.
