Damage from bleaching? - And are there alternatives?
Hi!
Since my teens I've been bleaching my fine but very dark body hair everywhere with regular hair bleach 1-2 times a month. The bleach made for the body hasn't been sufficiently strong, so I quckly found the solution of ordinary hair bleach. I've never had any probems with it apart from the smell during the process itself and once, 2 years ago I had a tiny spot on my back that was a little dry and red for a day afterwards, but it went away. I probably hadn't managed to remove it in the shower as well as I should.
Lately I've been more aware of my health as I've been changing to a vegan diet. I was watching a documentary about healthy eating and lifestyle and I felt inspired to change all my products to organic stuff without all the chemicals and whatnot after hearing the line "what you put on your skin ends up in your blood stream". And then it dawned on me how much damage I must've been doing with the bleaching? WOuld it be riddiculous to have Weleda creams and Dr Hauschka Lotions beside hardcore hair bleach?
The thing is, I'll probably never give it up. I've considered getting it all waxed, but it won't work for me for several reasons: It's too expensive having my WHOLE body done every month, it's obvious when it grows out, I can feel the hairs growing out and it's really not soft, I hate that. Electrolysis is too expensive and it would take over 3 years to have everything removed. I'd even have to go to another country for that. So, my solution so far seems to be the best apart from the worry of how unhealthy it must be..?
Are there alternatives to regular hair bleach that might work? Organic bleach? What kind of damage might I have done?
Thanks a lot in advance,
MM.
