Is the premise of Law of Attraction egocentric?

Hi,
I'm not trying to be a troll, truly, I just have a problem with Law of Attraction.
A relative of mine is highly involved in a lot of alternative thinking groups/ideas. My own personal experiences have made me know in myself there is way more going on than can be easily/lazily seen. However, my relative is very passive aggressive and has little to no empathy. (He masks this.) I've gone to a number or his groups and found quite a lot of narcissistic, bordering on sociopath people. (Not all of them, but quite a few.) They speak of vibrations, healing, etc. but they are very calculating and egocentric and somewhat snarky/gossipy.

This is also my feelings about a lot of the films I've seen about Law of Attraction. They speak a lot about becoming rich, getting a parking space, making good stuff happen to yourself, etc. I don't hear so much about caring about the animals, the sick, the hurt, the poor, the environment or the world as whole. It seems also very ego centric based and selfish. Not about society or much outside of the self.

I hope I don't sound disrespectful and I honestly don't mean to, it's just that I have learned (sadly) a lot about people being selfish while acting like they are caring (wolves in sheep's clothing?) in the last year and I'm tired of seeing so much attention on self. And if there is a different type of forum, like a debate one, I'll be happy to move this there. thanks.
