Re: We have a Soul AND a Spirit- Not To Be Confused As the Same- question.

I don't think I can do justice with my explanation..

From what I gather.. Just as the Trinity is made of Three (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) We are tiny "trinities" -- all having a spirit, soul and body.

The body is what you see in the mirror.
The soul is your inner being living inside your body and your body expresses to others the soul . Our individual personalities, opinions, feelings, preferences, emotions, etc. are involved with our soul.

Just as the soul is reflected to others through the body., a person's soul expresses thier spirit.

For a person to have a healthy total Being, the way we were meant to be, the Holy Spirit is permitted dominance over that person's spirit, which is then dominate over thier soul, and their soul is then dominate over thier body. This was Adam and Eve's condition before Eve allowed Satan to throw her off kilter, and now all of mankind (including religious man) is in an unbalanced condition and out of alignment- seperated from God. Not that God has abandoned us, but we are not anywhere near the inner communion with God condition Adam and Eve enjoyed.

Religious man- including many in Christianity, live by thier souls and neglect thier spirits. The human soul can be very self righteous and imitate the things of God.
An example of this is when you may give generously to various charities and churches but also make sure everyone knows you are doing this, as well as feeding your own ego that you are such a generous person. This is just an imitation of spiritual action. A person who allows thier spirits to predominate will still be generous when called to, but they will not pat themselves on the back over it. They will actually forget about it as God is more important to them than their own religiuous reputations in front of others.

To be a spiritual being, the person must quietly submit to God in thier lives, and then they become channels for God and the human soul no longer takes over. The Self life takes a back seat. Proper balance then happens with the spirit under God and the soul UNDER the spirit , and the body following suit.

The spirit is like a flame inside of us that needs to be cultivated and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to breathe His spirit in us to keep it alive or restore it.

Our souls never die, but we can let our spirits die by neglecting our spiritual health. I would assume that our spirits are the part of our conscience that makes our souls know the difference between right and wrong, selfish or unselfish actions.
If we know something is wrong and do it anyway, that act of rebelling against our conscience allows our spirit to die bit by bit with each rebellion.

Perhaps the spirit is located in our third eye area or Crown Chakra. I don't know.

A person can let their spirits die but their soul will never die. When they leave thier body after death, they will find they are still alive, but not in communion with God and therefore, not in any of the dimensions God's Spirit is in.
