Soluble fiber for gallstones
I haven't posted in a while, but thought I this information was relevant to the community here. I recently came across an article that promoted soluble fiber for gallbladder health/
Gallstones (in my gym's promotional magazine no less). It referenced nutritionist Karen Hurd. I am posting a link to a great gallstone article on her website here:
http://www.karenhurd.com/concern_gall_bladder.html
I have not followed her plan completely (which consists mainly of eating lots of legumes - something she even recommends during an attack), but I have increased my legume intake and also started taking fiber supplements daily (especially when I eat meals that aren't high in fiber) and I feel it has made enough of a difference to mention it here (I feel healthier, feel less likely to have an attack, and even that I have avoided attacks by doing this).
For more information about me, I started having attacks in 2001. I have done numerous cleanses, done caster oil packs, etc. Many a doctor has recommended that I take my gallbladder out over the years (one assured me in early 2009 that if I didn't have it out in six months I would seriously regret it). I seem to have gotten to a place where if I'm lucky, I only have 1-2 attacks a year (i should prob do more cleanses, but just don't). This is the first thing, that I had not heard of before, that actually feels like it's helping.
Hope this is helpful information.
