Types of Snorers

I didn't know there are different types of snorers. I wasn't really aware of this until my husband started snoring BADLY the past months. My baby and I could no longer sleep straight hours at night.

Last week, I finally decided to go to the pharmacy and try to look for solutions for my husband's BAD snoring habit. There were a LOT of snoring solutions offered in the pharmacy but I got surprised when I learned that some (if not all, im not sure about this) pharmacies do offer a FREE sleep test. Its so simple, just a few questions and they will be able to identify what kind of snorer you are. So I went back home and asked my husband to come with me the next day for the sleep test (they call it the SLumberGuard test, if im not mistaken)

Just a couple of questions and the pharmacists figured that my husband is a "throat snorer." If I remember it right, they describe it as snoring form the back of your throat and not from the nose.

Husband was recommended a mandibular advancement splint which is basically a mouth guard (like a sport mouth guard) that is specially designed to treat snoring.

First few days were kind of hard for my husband, he reported salivation and discomfort (which I think is just because of a new device placed in his mouth) I told him to manage it and try to get used to it.

A week had passed and no more sleepless nights for me and my baby :) Husband also got used to sleeping with it. It actually took him, what, like 4 days and no more discomfort :D

Good thing we were able to undergo a free "sleep test" coz if not, I might have bought nasal strips which wouldn't help at all because the root cause of his snoring is from the throat.

So, I suggest you determine the root cause of your snoring first. Devices won't help if you are not treating / targeting the right thing. Who knows, your nearest pharmacy might be offering the same "free sleep test" thing too!
