Grits or girls raised in the south... They are different!!
Remembering back a ways, i see those southern girls still running thru my mind...
The first one i recall was Becky, sat across from me in the second grade... i guess girls start thinking about boys, years before we notice girls.. Well i guess she liked me or something... Because she was always passing me notes in class... stuff like hi, what are you doing after school?? i tried hard to ignore her, but if you know anything about females when ever they want something there is just about not any stopping her... We walked to school, small town, and so she would come over to where we had our bikes actually just across the street from the school.... Hang around and talk, talk,talk... that is something women love to do.... Well i was a little concerned since she would come by Big Mama's house and just talk,talk,talk...
She would stand there and look at me... we boys were tiring to play some cowboys and indians... or go use the sling shot to knock down some wasp nest,[bad idea], or just explore down the RxR tracks by the house... Well of course i did not know or care much about Becky{nothing personal-sure she was a nice girl}, so she kind went off and left me alone which was great...
Well we moved back to St Pete for the third grade, at the Catholic School... no girls there, which made me happy... Made for a happy year for 9 year old boy...
But then we were sent, back to South Ga for the fourth grade... Well time has a way of catching up with you .... Now Becky was more developed and much more determined to know me better... We had to walk past her house going downtown to the movies on Sat... She must have planned it because every time we went by her house, she would be out there waiting to talk to me some more.... I kind of went along now... So things were better, but then one day out at recess, i was just playing some dodge ball with the guys and Becky runs up and tackles me, right there in the school yard... Wrestling me on the ground... This kind of one on one body contact with a young female was new to me.... i must say, kind of liked it too... She was rather wild, don't know that if we had ever linked up later in life if it would have worked out... Oh well.... We moved back to St Pete after school was out so never saw her again... That could have been good or bad i will never know for sure...
God has many reasons for putting the different people in you life's pathway... Never was sure about Becky.... Well onward and upwards...
We will discuss the south in more detail stay tuned... Check out my other blogs there is some good life changing news there....
