One Hundred Rakes
March 25, 2007
Celebrating the 99th Birthday
of Dr. Bernard Jensen.
(1908-2001)

The day long program is $20.00
or $10.00 if you rake. bring your
own rake, gloves, and garden tools.
Bring a Potluck lunch to share as
well for a shared meal at 12 noon.
Fund in part will go to establish
the Jensen library, and the
"Keep the Dream Alive" Enchanted
Garden Project

Escrow closes on the Former
Hidden Valley Health Ranch,
the Home and surrounding ten acres
where Dr. Bernard Jensen lived
for many years.

This is the land above the 100 acre parcel
that was originally his, where he ran the
Health Ranch in the Health Sanatarium Tradition.

Making some agreements with Steve Markowitz
a longer time friend.

The Hidden Valley Ranch will
rent for $3000.00 or $4,000 a weekend.

20-25 people can stay.

Steve wants to rent out mobile homes and cabins
that current exist on the property.

We are scheduling an all day event
for March 25, 2007.

This would be the 99th Birthday who died
at the age of 92 in 2001.

We will have an evening program
showing some of the video's of Dr. Jensen.
I have one in particular in mind,
his world travels. There is an
extradinary film narrated by
Dennis Weaver that shows footage
of the Old Health Ranch.

I remember the day that footage was
made. I believe it was the first time
I saw Dennis Weaver off the screen.

Those may have been a little after his
days as "Chester" in Gunsmoke.
Weaver established himself as quite an
environmentalist.

Steve called me on his cell today as
he was leaving the land.

Steve is awestruck by the flowers.
He counted 50 Rose Bushes.
Dr. Jensen love roses.
He was known for his flower photography.

Steve is just beginning to learn more
about Dr. Jensen. I have been sharing some
stories about the land and the architect
of its nature scape.

He says he has read "Health Magic
Through Chlorophyll from Living Plant Life."
That is the book I wrote for Dr. Jensen in 1974.

Steve would like to have a Dr. Jensen Library
on the land. He is calling for copies of Dr. Jensen's
books.

He wanted to borrow some from my Jensen Collection
here at the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community.

I have numbers of Jensen books here,
and some archival materials such as draft
from books we worked on together.

Jensen was a speaker more than a writer.
He had an extraordinary library himself
and gave away many of his books to close friends.


He and wife Fiona have been regulars at the Whole Being
Weekend for many years. He has three children. Rosie
the oldest was born one day after the Whole Being Weekend
18 years ago. She is now a student at UC Santa Cruz.

A successful entrepreneur, Steve would like to see
the land become the Hidden Valley Retreat and Day Spa.
Stephen and Fiona have gone out on a limb to secure
this land for all of us.

I have invested about 40 hours so far in the project,
and will receive a per cent of the gate to cover some
of my time.

"Keeping The Dream Alive!" is one of my Enchanted Garden
Projects. It involves lots of time building a web site,
and the time I have been spending blogging on this,
and beginning the work of getting the word out to Jensen
support.

I am working on a number of other projects right now
night and day, including creating the Rodriguez Ranch
Buy Back campaign. Lot of time and money going out,
so I appreciate people coming supporting all the work
I have been doing with a gate fee.

Work and pay too? Grumble. Grumble, reports my dear
friend Ed Elkin.

100 Rakes for Health is Stephen's aspiration.
We have about three right now, as of Tuesday.
So be sure to RSVP.

This is a chance to give back to the land

He sees it offering Wedding packages,
and summer programs, as well as Whole Being Weekends.

The land has Dr. Jensen's private orchard.

Jensen traveled round the world many times.
He won many international awards. The
travel film "Dr. Bernard Jensen
His Quest for Health & Happiness"

This DVD contains remarkable footage.

Jensen was an eclectic thinker
and practices an Essene philosophy
that honored many traditions of Nature Wisdom.

He was forward thinking and recorded in his
early years his own travels.

The DVD in one scene a Yogi master doing
postures. In another scene, his son doing
the similar postures many years later.

Dr. Jensen had was a highly charismatic speaker.
He was a keynote speaker at many health Conferences.

He began life with many health opportunities of his own.
He stuttered. At his 80th birthday celebration in
at the Town and Country more than 1200 people came to
hear him speak for three days.

Jensen's products are carried on by his son Art
who is married to Ellen Tart Jensen. Ellen
teaches Iridology, and learned this in part
from Dr. Jensen. She had developed her own
system. Ellen came to Dr. Jensen as a patient
and worked on many of his books for many years.
She gives seminars on a regular basis.

The Jensen property has many fruit trees.
Jensen was very particular about fruit bearing
trees. He was known to pull a tree if it did
not bear the quality of harvest that he wanted.

The land has some very special varieties,
including a enormous Persian Mulberry that
fruits in August, and Cocktail Grapegruit
that fruit around this time of year, as I recall.

Steve would like a farmer to caretake the
orchard. I am going to hook him up beginning
tomorrow.
