Earth Values
(Plant Your Dream!)

Earth Values by YourEnchantedGardener .....

I recommend that you start composting. This is a spiritual practice for me. This is how I express Earth Values. This is what I do and How Peter Dukich does it.

Date:   5/30/2005 2:26:18 AM ( 19 y ago)

Today I thought to be low key
and stay at home.

Gratefully, I did some wonderful
gardening with Rachel and her Cousin
Anthony late yesterday afternoon.

We simplified and made sweet a
little area in view of the kitchen window.

We recycled the soil in a lot of little pots.
We put some other plants in the ground.
We took away the leaves and fed the
nectarine some 40 year old compost
and kelp supplement.

There is a part of each of us that
lives in the Enchanted Garden,
but we seldom that the steps in
our fragmented world to bring it here.

One of the ways to make the Enchanted Garden
alive in your life is through honoring the soil.

"The Earth and our Soul are Soulmates!"
This is one of my favorite Enchanted Garden teachings.

Today I will take a trip to Costa Mesa to honor
Peter Dukich. It is his 90th Birthday.

I thought not to go on this trip.
I am feeling down with some emotions that
I want to write about, but I am going to go
because Peter Dukich is one of the most most
spiritually alive loving men I know.

For the last 50 or more years,
he has been making Biodynamic Compost.

This is a spiritual exercise.

His compost pile is like a Birthday Cake
for the Earth.

He has a brush.
He mixes some alchemical potions
invented by Rudolf Steiner.
He stirs these potions so man y times.

He has a Brush made of natural fibres
that he dips in the potion.
With a flick of the wrist, he spreads the
potion that infuses the compost
with various bacteria that are intended
to grow and transform the pile.

The bacteria is similar to what we take
when we take in probiotics, or make Kefir
out of Kefir grains.

The pile is made in a day in a Ceremonial fashion.
It is a community building event
asking many hands.

The pile is layers with straw, manure
green like grasses and yard material
and some remains of veggies or fruits.
The layers repeat, and keep repeating
with the sprlnkling between each layer.

Many of us value organic food.

organic food is but the tip of the ice
when it comes to growing food that is
of healing quality.

Food grown on Biodynamic compost
is closer to the ideal.

In our community, my spiritual Earth Practice
involved earthworms.

I take the greens I have not eaten during the week,
and the left overs from fruits etc,
and feed the earthworms.
I feed them old spiritual papers as well.
I enjoy watching them cluster.
I like seeing how happily pregnant they get
when the conditions are right between
food, moisture, and safety from too much heat or cold.

I highly recommend that you start composting
in one way or another.

Discover your own way that works for you.

It is an Earth Value that I find essential
to living life to its fullest.
