Got "Broken Brain"?
(Chef Jemichel ~ The Chef-Doctor)
Brain chemistry as well as how gratitude may impact brain structure and activity - plus - a hallmark with anxiety is a total disconnect between the emotional part of the brain and the logical part of the brain.

January 16, 2023 - "Treating depression with drugs alone, without psychotherapy, is not only poor medicine, it is also dangerous"! -
"A... trend in contemporary scientific medicine is its preoccupation with studying the anatomy, physiology, and chemistry of the brain,
at the expense of studying its dynamic relationship to the body as a whole.
Neuroscience can be enormously important and of consuming interest,
but what is learned of the physical brain may be either detrimental or irrelevant to clinical medicine.
An example of the former is the almost universal tendency to treat the chemical aberrations associated with depression with drugs,
as though the altered chemistry was the cause of the depression when, in fact, the reason for the depression is an unconscious
psychological conflict and the chemical change is merely the mechanism that produces the symptom of depression.
Treating the depression with drugs alone, without psychotherapy, is not only poor medicine, it is also dangerous. The symptom imperative tells us that taking away a symptom by the use of a placebo or an antidepressant will only give rise to another symptom ..."[51]

With the viral pandemic, lockdowns increased depression, and suicides, Magnesium becomes more critical than ever. In the United States, in particular, we have a terrified citizenry, whose health and peace of mind is under siege as a result of the pandemic crisis while simultaneously bombarded with apocalyptic scenarios of societal collapse and civil war. I would prescribe mega doses of magnesium to everyone for the stress that is depleting everyone’s magnesium status.

March 14, 2020 - Got Healthy pH - "For Normal Brain Activity"? -
"According to the Pentagon, 71 percent of our young adults are ineligible to serve in the U.S. military because they are either too dumb, too fat or have a criminal background. Modern civilization is in decline as we suicide the human race with our diets and the mountain of lies that our leaders foist on us.
Richard Stevenson, professor of Psychology at Macquarie University in Sydney and one of the co-authors of a study, said eating a western-style diet causes some disruption in the hippocampus region of the brain, the part involving memory and appetite control.
We’ve outlined that it’s not just dieting that has played a major role in dumbing down America or in other western countries, but also the proliferation of smartphones and other devices, which have worn away the ability to focus. Combine less-nutritious food and technology, and it’s producing an “Idiocracy” apocalypse of stupid people. IQ scores in France, Scandinavia, Britain, Germany and even Australia are beginning to decline.
And now we find out that our bodies pH also affects our brain. University of Iowa neuroscientist John Wemmie suggests that increased acidity—or low pH—in the brain is linked to panic disorders, anxiety, and depression. But his work also indicates that changes in acidity are important for normal brain activity too.
“We are interested in the idea that pH might be changing in the functional brain because we’ve been hot on the trail of receptors that are activated by low pH,” says Wemmie, associate professor of psychiatry in the UI Carver College of Medicine. 'The presence of these receptors implies the possibility that low pH might be playing a signaling role in normal brain function.'"[45]

March 12, 2020 - Got B Vitamins? -
"...the most important vitamins for relieving stress, helping you sleep and achieving calmness are the B vitamins.
They are important in so many areas of the body that you simply can't live without them. They are critical for your nervous system and for your body's ability to turn food into energy. So if you ever feel like you don't have enough energy or you feel nervous, B vitamins can help.
Sadly, even a healthy diet today may not provide enough B vitamins due to our nutrient-destroying farming practices.
This is just a brief overview of what B vitamins do for you:
B-1 (thiamine) is critical to your nervous system (diabetics often have trouble retaining thiamine, which may explain why they experience such high rates of nerve degeneration).
B-2 (riboflavin) helps produce red blood cells and antibodies for your immune system.
B-3 works with your gut to produce digestive fluids — especially hydrochloric acid.
B-5 (pantothenic acid) is essential in the hormone factory that is the main function of the adrenal glands. All eight B vitamins have a role but B-5, B-6 and B-3 are the most active.
B-6 has many jobs but is critical to the proper functioning of the brain and it's a good friend of magnesium, helping to direct it into the cells.
B-7 (biotin) helps break down essential fatty acids.
B-9 (folic acid) is essential for cell division and reproduction.
B-12 is essential for the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system.
Because they are so vital to our biochemistry, B complex vitamins have been found to reduce fatigue and boost mood.
One study(i) found that treatment with a high-dose B complex and mineral supplement improved overall mental health and stress and enhanced performance on cognitive tests.
Another study in young adults showed that supplementing with a multivitamin containing high levels of B-complex vitamins lowered stress levels and mental fatigue."[44]

February 25, 2020 - Got Coconut Oil? - "Palm Oil Protects Your Brain -
Study shows tocotrienols in palm oil protect brain cells -
In a study published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry (April 2000), researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, found that tocotrienols, especially alpha-tocotrienol, protects glutamate-induced death of neuronal cells (brain cells). This study also provided the first evidence describing the molecular basis of tocotrienol action.
Tocotrienols are a special, super-potent form of vitamin E found in palm oil. -
There are two types of vitamin E. Tocopherol is the type we are most familiar with. Tocotrienol is the less common form that is found in abundance in palm oil. Each form of vitamin E has four subgroups designated by alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. Alpha-tocopherol is the most common form of vitamin E. It is the form we see in vitamin supplements and fortified foods. Alpha-tocotrienol is the most abundant form of vitamin E in palm oil. Researchers have found that alpha-tocotrienol from palm oil has up to 60 times the antioxidant activity as alpha-tocopherol.
Oxidative damage due to free radicals or reactive oxygen species has been implicated in age-related neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's. In the pathogenesis of these diseases, oxidative damage may accumulate over a period of years, leading to massive neuronal loss.
A major contributor to pathologic cell death within the nervous system is glutamate toxicity and appears to be mediated by reactive oxygen species. The induction of oxidative stress by excitatory amino acid such as glutamate has been demonstrated to be the primary cause of death of certain types of neuronal cells. Glutamate is used by researchers to induce neurological damage in lab studies. We get glutamate in our diet from monosodium glutamate (MSG), "natural flavoring" added to foods, and soy products, to mention a few.
In the study it was found that at low concentrations, tocotrienols were more effective than alpha-tocopherol (the common form of vitamin E) in preventing glutamate-induced brain cell death. At higher concentrations, the glutamate-induced neuronal cells not only recovered after 6 hours of glutamate treatment, the tocotrienols, and especially alpha-tocotrienol, provided complete protection against further loss of cell viability. ..."[43]*

If you are as "sharp as a tack" then "preventing glutamate-induced brain cell death" might not be of the highest interest to you - however if you are interested (and already making significant transitions away from the SAD diet toward whole foods from natural sources) and if you include some packaged foods - be are of the ingredients called: "natural flavoring"!

May 27, 2019 - Toward a Whole Matrix Perspective - within which we can begin to understand the "brain." -
Having been introduced to the revolutionary findings of Dr. Hamer (a decade ago) this blog-writter thinks more holistically whenever and wherever the subject of "the brain" appears. Close to seven year ago he devoted a blog to this: "The Gut-Brain-Mind-Body + Mind-Brain-Body-Gut"[29] The "New Medicine" in a nutshell says: the brain is the main controller for the organs and that emotional shock conflicts in the psyche make imprints upon the brain which in turn manifest in the organs depending on the part of the brain that the shock registers. One could say this follows the principal of "As Above - So Below." At the same time we have "As Below - So Above" when we consider the connection between gut and brain as well as emotions and the brain. For now this writer wishes to add a reference to the first principal with the following.
SUDS -
"A Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS – also called a Subjective Units of Disturbance Scale) is a scale of 0 to 10 for measuring the subjective intensity of disturbance or distress currently experienced by an individual. The individual self assesses where they are on the scale. The SUDS may be used as a benchmark for a professional or observer to evaluate the progress of treatment. In desensitization-based therapies, such as those listed below, the patients' regular self assessments enable them to guide the clinician repeatedly as part of the therapeutic dialog.
The SUD-level was developed by Joseph Wolpe in 1969. It has been used in cognitive-behavioral treatments for anxiety disorders (e.g. exposure practices and hierarchy) and for research purposes.
There is no hard and fast rule by which a patient can self assign a SUDS rating to his or her disturbance or distress, hence the name subjective.
Some guidelines are:
The intensity recorded must be as it is experienced now.
Constriction or congestion or tensing of body parts indicates a higher SUDS than that reported.
The scale
Here is one version of the scale:
10 = Feels unbearably bad, beside yourself, out of control as in a nervous breakdown, overwhelmed, at the end of your rope. You may feel so upset that you don't want to talk because you can't imagine how anyone could possibly understand your agitation.
9 = Feeling desperate. What most people call a 10 is actually a 9. Feeling extremely freaked out to the point that it almost feels unbearable and you are getting scared of what you might do. Feeling very, very bad, losing control of your emotions.
8 = Freaking out. The beginning of alienation.
7 = Starting to freak out, on the edge of some definitely bad feelings. You can maintain control with difficulty.
6 = Feeling bad to the point that you begin to think something ought to be done about the way you feel.
5 = Moderately upset, uncomfortable. Unpleasant feelings are still manageable with some effort.
4 = Somewhat upset to the point that you cannot easily ignore an unpleasant thought. You can handle it OK but don't feel good.
3 = Mildly upset. Worried, bothered to the point that you notice it.
2 = A little bit upset, but not noticeable unless you took care to pay attention to your feelings and then realize, "yes" there is something bothering me.
1 = No acute distress and feeling basically good. If you took special effort you might feel something unpleasant but not much.
0 = Peace, serenity, total relief. No more anxiety of any kind about any particular issue."[30]

Comment:
The "scale" (that is referenced immediately above here) is part of a self-clearing process known: "Be Set Free Fast" that this writer has used and found effective. The scale can also be applied to EFT treatments or any number of self-adminstered techniques that work on resolving emotional discomfort.

November 11, 2019 - Phrenic Brain Injuries -
"...when you look at phrenic brain injuries, they're not all the same. One of the things that we know is that, first of all, if the person's lost consciousness, if a person has a history of actually losing some degree of consciousness, then there is a significant injury to the brain. ...
And we also know that it's not how hard you hit your head; it's what was going on with the brain environment before the impact to the brain. So if your blood sugar was low or if you're a smoker, or if your brain was already inflamed from your diet, if you're diabetic, these things can actually make an impact much more devastating. So we tend to sometimes think these brain injuries are trivial, but they're not.
So if you take a scenario where someone, for example, had reduced oxygen to their brain or they were in an inflammatory state, and then they bumped their head and they lost consciousness for like, let's say, a minute or two, then there are some dramatic changes that take place in the brain. And one of the things that has been shown is that these immune cells in the brain called neuroglia, they actually change their shape and they become what are called primed glial cells, and their anatomy forever changes; and then these cells are active all the time. And it takes very, very little inflammation throughout the body to activate them again. And then the brain starts to have this increased neuro inflammatory response and neuro degenerate, and then you have this devastating vicious cycle."[41]

September 12, 2019 - Dr. Tom Cowan's Journey Through "Classic Anthroposophical Medicine" -
"Toxic Medicines Are Not the Answer" - By: Tom Cowan, M.D. -
I have had an uneasy relationship with psychiatry virtually my entire medical career. Soon after I opened my practice in a small town in New Hampshire in the late 1980s, I started to work with a couple of local Camp Hill Villages. One was just starting a program to house young men and women who were diagnosed with a mental illness and would otherwise have been shut away in a mental health hospital. This Camp Hill Village was situated on an organic farm, and the idea was that through living in a stable family setting and doing real farm and gardening work, some residents could not only heal their mental illness but also learn useful life skills. I became the consultant physician for this initiative and advised the community about such things as diet.
At the time, I was still doing what I would call classic anthroposophical medicine, which includes a pharmacopeia of natural
medicines for virtually every situation. Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophic medicine, talked often about the etiology of
schizophrenia as a "loosening" of the soul and spirit from the physical and etheric bodies. He suggested that this loosening could happen in each of three realms. When it happens in the metabolic region, we get diarrhea. When it happens in the rhythmical/blood realm, we get hemophilia, and when it happens in the head/thinking domain, we get schizophrenia. For each of these situations, he proposed a medicine from the crystal called stibium, which he said knitted together the various bodies of the human being, counteracting the underlying cause of these three diseases.
One of our first patients was a young man in his early 20s who had florid psychosis as part of his schizophrenia. His parents were
adamantly against conventional psychiatric treatment and so brought him to us to live and be treated. In my initial encounter with him and his parents, I explained the anthroposophical view of schizophrenia and its treatment, intravenous stibium. They consented to this treatment, and I gave him the medicine.
**A week or so later, both his parents and the Camp Hill workers called to tell me about the remarkable improvement this young man had experienced. They said he was much clearer in his thinking, more cooperative, less agitated and able to participate in the life of the village more fully.** I asked them to bring the young man for a second injection in one month.
When I saw him a few weeks later, he was still doing well, and he talked about the wonders of the injection. Unfortunately, I had run out of the 10 cc ampules I had used initially and instead used a few 3 cc ampules for his next injection. It was the exact same medicine, just in different ampules. For whatever reason, this young man got stuck on the belief that I was giving him a different medicine. He claimed the "new medicine" didn't work and begged me to give him the original formulation. As soon as the new shipment arrived, I called them back and gave him an injection using the original-size ampule.
Again, for whatever reason, every time he saw me from then on, he claimed I was not giving him the miracle first preparation, that I was deliberately undermining him and withholding the real medicine. Nothing I said or showed him made any difference. He became fixated on this change, slowly got worse and worse, until one night I got a call that this young man had been killed by a motor vehicle as he was wandering around naked in the middle of the night. This experience was so devastating, I never quite recovered from it. At the time, I felt as if I never wanted to treat another person with a serious mental illness ever again, and for the most part, I didn't.
As time went on, I began to read more and more about the failure and nonsense that is the basis of modern psychiatry. I read Thomas Szasz's "The Myth of Mental Illness," Robert Whitaker's "Mad in America" and my favorite, John Modrow's "How to Become a Schizophrenic." Each of these books, as well as other articles and excerpts I read, told the same story:
**Mental Illness is not a chemical imbalance; psychiatric drugs do not address the underlying causes of mental illness and are among the most toxic substances a human being can ingest; and, most shockingly, effective, safe and well-documented treatments and actual cures exist for most mental illnesses and have been used in some cases for more than a century.**
My uneasiness about mental illness was that, similar to heart disease, vaccines/pediatrics, and cancer, I knew the modern understanding of these illnesses was deeply flawed, the treatments often did more harm than good, and a better way forward could be found. However, I didn't want to have anything to do with psychiatry, and I couldn't bring myself to even consider writing such a book.
**The good news -and the real point of this blog - is that now I don't have to write the book, as Kelly Brogan, M.D., has done it for
us.**
In her new book, "Own Your Self," Brogan meticulously dissects the fallacies and flawed thinking of modern psychiatry. She provides proof that the commonly held beliefs by both modern psychiatrists and modern psychiatric patients are not only factually inaccurate but also trap patient and doctor into a system of toxic medicine that inexorably leads to the deterioration of the quality of life for the patient. In spite of her training as a board-certified psychiatrist, she still has the courage and integrity to see the edifice of psychiatry as the house of cards that it is.
Brogan, thankfully, doesn't stop there. She not only gives her readers a step-by-step blueprint for how to get off toxic psychiatric
drugs, but she also guides them in all aspects of how to regain total health. I encourage anyone with a mental health condition or anyone interested in mental health or psychiatry to get this book and not only read it, but **use** it. "Own Your Self" is a much-needed call and very wise and doable plan to pull our country and world back from the clutches of the misguided and toxic psychiatric quagmire.[38]

RnA ReSet Radio Show Summary
Monday, July 1, 2019
In case you missed it, here is the wrap-up of last Monday's edition of the Dr. Carolyn Dean Live radio show.
I have written about the biochemical cause of anxiety, as it relates to magnesium deficiency and the adrenal glands, in my book, The Magnesium Miracle. The following excerpt is from Chapter One:
When the adrenals are no longer protected by sufficient magnesium, the fight-or-flight hormones, adrenaline and noradrenaline, become more easily triggered. When they surge erratically, they cause a rapid pulse, high blood pressure, and heart palpitations. The more magnesium-deficient you are, the more exaggerated is the adrenaline release.
Working with magnesium may be your solution to eliminating anxiety from your life, Magnesium plays a hugely important role in the body; it is required for cell growth and development, normal blood pressure, enables thousands of biochemical processes, contributes to the proper functioning of muscles and nerves, and releases appropriate amount of serotonin in the brain. Without adequate magnesium, the brain will not properly release serotonin, the chemical that the brain uses to stabilize mood.[33]
--
This blog-writer's father (papa John) suffered from a diagnosed "anxiety disorder" for decades and he is reasonably certain that papa John was magnesium deficient and completely uninformed about the need for supplementation or a change of diet that could better meet this and related nutritional needs. This particular lack of knowledge is understandable but not really acceptable. It is now established among many diverse researchers that the US educational system omitted key components that are essential for a assuring a completely nourishing diet. As a result "the people parish for a lack of knowledge"[34] and this is unconscionable!

July 3, 2019 - Your Grateful (or less grateful) Brain -
Research suggests there may be differences in brain structure and activity between more and less grateful people—although we can’t say for sure if those differences are the result of nature or nurture or some interaction between the two.
So, for example, some parts of the brain might be anatomically different in more grateful people. One study found that people who are more prone to gratitude have more gray matter in their right inferior temporal cortex, an area previously linked to interpreting other people’s intentions.
Brains of more and less grateful people also show activity differences. In a 2015 functional magnetic resonance imaging study by Glenn Fox and colleagues, participants were asked to imagine they were Holocaust survivors who had received shelter or food from strangers. The participants who imagined that they would feel more grateful in these scenarios had more activity in brain regions associated with moral cognition, perspective taking, and reward.
And, in another study by Joel Wong, Joshua Brown, and colleagues, people who expressed more gratitude in a lab setting—as measured by their willingness to give to charity more of the money that they had received from doing an experiment—had more active areas of the brain associated with making mental calculations.
Indeed, it may even be the case that more grateful people have more altruistic brains as well—a recent study by Christina Karns and colleagues found that more grateful people had more activity in brain areas associated with feelings of reward when they were told that a charity would receive money.
Together, these studies suggest that differences in structure and activity across various brain regions may relate to differences in gratitude across individuals, but—as we’ll see later—at least some of these differences are not static. In fact, consistently making an effort to be grateful can physically change our brains over the long run.
Excitingly, there’s even some evidence from neuroscience that suggests how practicing gratitude can change your brain. Remember that study from earlier that looked at brain activity differences in people who expressed more and less gratitude? Another part of that study found that participants who had written gratitude letters in a therapeutic intervention expressed more gratitude and had more activity three months later in their pregenual anterior cingulate cortex, an area involved in predicting the outcomes of actions. This result suggests that a simple gratitude intervention can lead to lasting brain changes even months after the intervention ends.
The researchers propose an interesting interpretation of their findings: Practicing gratitude may increase brain activity related to predicting how our actions affect other people. “To the extent one predicts and evaluates the likely effects of one’s actions on others,” they write, “one might be more willing to direct those actions towards having a positive impact on others.”
And the recent study that found that more grateful people have more altruistic brains? That relationship, too, appears to be malleable. It was stronger in participants who had been assigned to keep a gratitude journal for three weeks than it was in participants who had been assigned a different (non-gratitude) journaling activity. This difference suggests that practicing gratitude changes the brain in a way that orients people to feel more rewarded when other people benefit, and this change could help explain why gratitude encourages generosity toward others.[32]

October 17, 2019 - Your Higher Self & Your Brain -
"... Depending on a person’s degree of evolution, their higher self makes contact with their brain more or less often and for a varying length of time. But as for the moment, no human brain is ready to withstand the power of its vibrations and attune with it, the higher self does not linger. For yet a long time to come, and provided we give it the right conditions, it will have to work on our brain from a distance in order to prepare it. Our higher self will only take full possession of our brain the day our brain can accommodate it."[39]
--
Comment:
Re: the "degree of evolution" and "full possession of our brain" - It appears that virtually every individual can possibly work on their own "evolution" and by doing that may possibly support their brain's capacity to allow "full possession" by their higher self. According to the quintessential vision-bearing acronym of this blog-writer's CureZone blog known as "Cheeta" - at least half of his vision points to certain external environments that: "Cultivate Healing (Environments) Enlightening Through Arts." Over the years (since he started the Cheeta blog in 2014) the evolution of each individual has been part of his ongoing "search for truth" resulting in continuous postings that were sparked by his many findings. However - now the above quote of Omraam's "thought" brings a much welcomed heightened focus in support of what the "evolution" entails. Yes, conscious attention to various qualities of one's "environment" definitely needs to be part of the whole picture for all the healing that is required for one's self as well as one's relations with all of life - and - that healing needs to include the brain!!!
In a YouTube video[40] that this blog-writer watched yesterday on self muscle testing the woman demonstrating this technique included a method for balancing the hemispheres of the brain. The technique was suggested for whenever the muscle testing process appeared to be challenged with uncertainty. She also spoke of another approach to address the need for water to hydrate the brain. With balance and hydration in the brain the muscle testing can give better results and thereby "prepare" the way for access to the higher self!

August 26, 2019 - "The beginning point in treating Alzheimer’s." -
"Investigators are ... uncovering mitochondrial dysfunction and the resulting inflammation that contributes to Alzheimer’s. I say that magnesium is intimately involved in mitochondrial function since 6 of the 8 steps in the mitochrondrial Krebs cycle require magnesium in order to make ATP energy molecules. Without enough magnesium to drive the Krebs cycle the mitochondria appear to be dysfunctional. So, that’s the beginning point in treating Alzheimer’s.[37]

If only there was a link to: "The Chicago Health and Aging Study reported in the Archives of Neurology in 2003" then I could look it over and make a substantial comment on this. However - in the meanwhile - there is a world of difference between foods known as: "the displacing foods of commerce" and real food for "we the people" rather than for shelf-life and other commerce-based interests.
One example (of many) is the fact that there are two different milks on the market. One is intended to be homogenized and pasteurized for the sake of the corporation's bottom line. The other milk is produced to be consumed completely whole. Studies have already been done finding that the people who are raised on the later milk have health advantages over that of those who drink the former milk.
The same distinction can be applied to all the other references to Saturated fat as "bad."
I'm actually surprised to see this reference to a (dated) 2003 study today!
The affect from homogenization upon the fat molecule is where a study of this nature needs to be made and in contrast to whole unpasteurized milk. Otherwise the "Chicago" study is suspect for having some kind of a hidden agenda against foods that traditionally have been a foundation of diets for humans.

May 1, 2019 - Hydrogen For the Brain in Brain Trauma, Strokes and During Surgery -
"In some exciting news for those of us in the hydrogen world, a study was recently published[25] in the journal JACC: Basic to Translational Medicine, exploring the potential use of hydrogen in the treatment of children with genetic heart defects.
Children with genetic heart defects often require cardiopulmonary transplants in order to live. Obviously this is a major surgery, fraught with risk. One major risk is that during the surgery, there are periods where the infant is without oxygen, which can result in damage to various tissues.
Brain damage is of particular concern.
In this study, Dr. John Kheir MD, a Harvard Medical researcher and cardiologist at Boston Children's Hospital's pediatric intensive care unit performed cardiopulmonary transplants on piglets, testing to see whether the administration of hydrogen therapy during and after surgery would help to prevent brain damage during periods of low brain oxygen.
The study was a huge success. The piglets that received hydrogen therapy had significantly better neurological outcomes than those that did not receive hydrogen.
In fact, the outcomes were so impressive, that Dr. Kheir is moving forward with volunteer adult human trials.
For this study researchers used 2.4% inhaled hydrogen, the same amount (or less) as is produced by our 2% hydrogen inhaler.[26]
This shouldn't come as any surprise - researchers in Japan have performed a plethora of studies demonstrating the protective effects of hydrogen on neural tissue during events causing oxygen loss, such as brain trauma or strokes.
But it's great to see researchers in the U.S. catching up.
It's going to be fascinating to see how this research continues to evolve, as we continue to discover novel applications for molecular hydrogen.
Hope you found this as interesting as we did...have a great day!"[24]

Happy New Energy and Possible Brain Renewal with NADH! -
"...The story of NADH is intricately linked to the story of the Birkmayer family. It began in postwar Vienna at the Hospital for the Brain Injured (Wiener Hirnverletzten-Lazarett). There the young professor Walther Birkmayer saw over 3,000 braininjured patients as chief physician. Grasping the importance of neurorehabilitation as a special discipline, he began a journey to explore the neurobiological reactive mechanisms within the brain. His observations led to the realization that injuries must create an imbalance between various reactor substances or neurotransmitters, resulting in a wide range of patient behaviors or symptoms. His subsequent research with Parkinson‘s patients during the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, using L-dopa, the precursor to the substance dopamine, led to one of the crucial events of neurology. He succeeded in demonstrating that a pharmacological effect could be counteracted by another chemical substance producing a specific physiological or psychic result. In the years that followed, Dr. Walther Birkmayer was to receive four honorary doctorates from leading European institutions in recognition of his outstanding lifetime contributions. He was also highly regarded by his patients for his help and his humanity Walther‘s son Georg also became a doctor. After fighting at the forefront of cancer research, Georg was to follow his father, making his own contribution to the development of neurorehabilitative therapies. He went on to discover and implement the therapeutic usage of NADH or coenzyme 1, the topic to be explored in this booklet[22]. In 1993, Dr. Georg Birkmayer developed the first and only stable and absorbable oral tablet form of NADH. ..."[22]

March 12, 2019 - "Brain Awareness Week[20]" By: Dr. Carolyn Dean -
In honor of Brain Awareness week, I will be dedicating this week's emails to matters of brain health and performance. For starters, I will explore the link between magnesium and healthy brain function.
Increasing magnesium intake may be a valid strategy to enhance cognitive abilities. This comes on the heels of much research and speculation that inadequate levels of magnesium could impair cognitive function, leading to faster deterioration of memory in aging humans.
In fact, because of the implications of magnesium deficiency, I thoroughly researched and provided over 600 medical and scientific references in the newest edition of The Magnesium Miracle, 2017 Edition, many of which refer directly to the function of the central nervous system!
The following excerpts citing magnesium's role in the brain function and cognition is taken from The Magnesium Miracle, 2017 Edition:
Stroke: The U.S. population, deficient in magnesium, is at greater risk for stroke with severe post-stroke complications. There can be poor recovery from head injury and escalating neurological damage. Lack of magnesium can enhance neurotoxin damage from vast numbers of chemicals in our air, food, and water.
Brain Trauma: Higher magnesium levels are associated with a better recovery, and giving magnesium will create a better healing outcome. IV magnesium sulfate significantly reduces brain edema following brain injury and is used to treat patients with severe TBI without adverse effects. This is crucial information to give your doctor if your child suffers a head injury or any family member is involved in a motor vehicle accident. Good Neurosurgeons give IV magnesium to all their surgical patients.
Diuretics Dry Out The Brain: A journal case study reported that an elderly woman's Serum Magnesium level became depleted due to a diuretic she was taking for hypertension. She was admitted to the hospital with severe weakness and developed an overt psychosis with paranoid delusions. Following large intravenous doses of magnesium, her symptoms disappeared within twenty-four hours. However, her symptoms returned as long as she was taking the diuretic. People who are prescribed diuretics should check with their doctor about taking at least 600 mg a day of supplemental magnesium in divided doses. In that way, many of the side effects of diuretics can be avoided.
Aging: French magnesium researcher Dr. Pierre Delbet, who practiced in the early 1900s, was convinced that the aging body's tissues have three times more calcium than magnesium. He knew that calcium precipitates out into tissues that are deficient in magnesium. He observed the toxicity of excess calcium in the testicles, brain, and other tissues and concluded almost a century ago that magnesium deficiency plays a role in senility.
Memory: Research at MIT, however, produced a study in 2004 that elevates magnesium to the position of memory enhancer. Particular brain receptors important for learning and memory depend on magnesium for their regulation. The researchers describe magnesium as an absolutely necessary component of the cerebrospinal fluid in order to keep these learning and memory receptors active. The term they use for this activity, interactivity, and changeability is plasticity.
Fear: MIT researcher found that "As predicted by our theory, increasing the concentration of magnesium and reducing the background level of noise led to the largest increases of plasticity ever reported in scientific literature." In English, that statement simply means that magnesium reduces the physical reaction to fear, which can only be a good thing!
Treating Telomeres: A telomere is an essential part of chromosomes that affect how our cells age. Telomeres are the caps at the ends of chromosomes that protect them from unraveling or getting attached to another chromosome. The current research on aging is firmly tied up with telomeres. It should come as no surprise that magnesium is tightly wrapped up with telomeres. But the real shock is how few researchers are focusing on the miracle of magnesium in keeping telomeres from unraveling. Instead, they are looking for drugs or formulating expensive supplements to save the telomeres – ignoring the solution that's right before their eyes.
Alzheimer's & Parkinson's: There is evidence that magnesium deficiency can trigger or worsen Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. These conditions are the neurological equivalent of heart disease. After all, both heart and brain are excitable tissues that give off electrical energy, and both must have magnesium.
In spite of all these potential outcomes, boosting your brain power can be simple! You can supplement your dietary intake of magnesium and other beneficial minerals such as zinc with our very own ReMag Magnesium Solution, a 60,000 ppm concentration of 99.99% pure elemental magnesium and ReMyte, our very same mineral product, both designed to slip right into the mineral channels of your cells and saturate your entire body, mind and spirit with magnesium and mineral delight!

December 17, 2018 - What’s Happening to Kids’ Brains? - By: Carolyn Dean MD ND - The Doctor of the Future® -
Is ADHD Really Increasing? This article on Medscape came out at the same time WebMD reported the incidence of autism as 1 in 40 children. In the same news cycle there was a study by the NIH reporting the negative impact of Heavy Screen Time on Young Brains.
The latest ADHD study, using 2015-2016 data, measured the prevalence of ADHD at 10.2%. Boys are more likely to suffer ADHD than girls with an incidence of almost 70%. The recent 10.2% measurement is an increase from 6.1% recorded in 1997-1998.
The Medscape article doesn’t comment on the impact of the high incidence of ADHD on the community. They also don’t ask WHY it is happening. Instead the writers question the statistics and say the numbers are escalating because of “increased awareness by parents and by teachers and school systems.”
My long-time partner, Bob, says ADHD and autism are partially the effect of kids living more in their Chip Body than their Chemical Body. They stare at the “black mirror” of their cell phones more than they scan human faces finding the black mirror much more interesting. As much as the Chip Body is rewiring their brains, their Chemical Body is under attack from drugs, vaccines, environmental pollution, nutrient deficiencies, and massive stress, which serves to drive them into their Chip Body even more.
And now, an NIH study finds that “Brain scans of adolescents who are heavy users of smartphones, tablets and video games look different from those of less active screen users.” And this is not teenagers but a cohort of 4,500, 9-10-year-olds. This group will be followed for 10 years to see if this is good or bad.
One thing that struck me was the many hours of screen time reported by these kids. When a child is on their smartphone for 7 or more hours a day, to me that’s 7 hours that a kid is not reading a book, doing their homework, or playing out in nature. But maybe these kids are fitting into the new Digital environment perfectly as they adapt, adopt and survive. Instead of supporting that position with magnesium and other nutrients to help them cope, modern medicine chooses to add to their chaos by drugging them.
I wrote in The Magnesium Miracle that “Particular brain receptors important for learning and memory depend on magnesium for their regulation. MIT researchers describe magnesium as an absolutely necessary component of the cerebrospinal fluid in order to keep these learning and memory receptors active. The term they use for this activity, interactivity, and changeability is plasticity.”
The very fabric of our children’s brains is being invaded by all the factors and triggers I mention above. Therefore it only makes sense to at least give them magnesium, rub magnesium lotion on them, to help their brains and body cope with these shifts and changes.

October 27, 2018 - Cell Phones Zapp Your Brain! -
"... There are over two hundred million cell phones in the U.S., which means almost everyone has one (except me). ... It was in 1984 that cell phone technology began to transition from military to civilian use. At the time, no testing was done. So, what could go wrong? Nothing, according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Everything is fine. When you look a little closer at the details, however, there is reason to believe something did go wrong and the FCC might be fibbing. Why would the FCC misinform us? Perhaps that big fat revolving door between the FCC and the telecom industry is the answer.
As is usually the case, the results of industry studies differ greatly from independent studies. If you think the industry is as pure as the driven snow, then you have nothing to worry about. If you think billions of dollars might motivate somebody to bend the truth a little, you might want to take a look at the independent studies. They suggest there are problems not just with cell phones specifically, but with wireless radiation in general. Cell phone producers know this and actually say in the directions or paperwork that come with the phone that you should not put the phone directly against your skin. They also know that nobody reads the directions, and everybody puts the phone against their skin.
The industry will say that they have found no evidence of harm from wireless radiation. That may be true. It is also true that you won’t find something if you are very careful not to look for it.
Apparently, a lot of women like to keep their phones in their bras. The Generation Zapped video shows us Donna, who developed five tumors on her breast marking the exact location where she carried her cell phone. That is one of very many examples that some might find suspicious. I’m sure the FCC would have much to say about what an unfortunate coincidence that is.
Other 'coincidences' include deformed sperm, sleep disruption, bad memory, lack of mental focus and impaired brain development in children. ..."[13]

Psychiatric Drugs Zapp Your Brain! -
"Simple Truths About Psychiatry: Psychiatric Drugs Are More Dangerous Than You Ever Imagined", By: Dr. Peter Breggin, MD -
"Dr. Peter Breggin is another voice in the growing chorus of people warning us about what prescription drugs really do. He goes through the various categories of drugs. Stimulants cause brain shrinkage, increased suicide rates, cocaine abuse and criminal behavior. Sedatives like Ambien shorten life span. Zanax and Valium are very addictive. 'Antipsychotic' drugs wreck the basal ganglia and also shorten life span. If you want to shorten your life span, you have many options.
Doctors continue to prescribe these drugs. How did this situation start, and why does it continue? As Dr. Breggin points out, doctors only know what the pharmaceutical industry tells them. He also warns that you need competent professional supervision to stop taking these drugs or the side effects could be worse than your original condition. These drugs are also a common denominator in the epidemic of behavior problems and waves of violence in schools. If everyone knew about this, things could be much better, but don’t wait for any big news flashes from pharmaceutical-controlled mainstream media. ..."[14]

December 30, 2018 - "Cholesterol Level of 100 is Horrifyingly Low "- Carolyn Dean MD ND - The Doctor of the Future® -
My blog topic is the title of an American Journal of Cardiology paper that’s an outright educational promotion for a new line of cholesterol drugs. I guess the publicity against statin drugs has hit a high point and drug companies are scrambling to keep the cholesterol myth going with non-statin PCSK9 Inhibitors that supposedly treat LDL cholesterol.
The Cleveland Clinic has declared that the target “normal” for cholesterol is 100-199 mg/dL for those over age 21. Doctors want you to reach this level by taking medication. When I was in med school in the mid 70s, the “normal” was 240. It wasn’t until 1987 that the first statin drug was introduced. These drugs do lower cholesterol, but they don’t increase lifespan, so what’s the point? Also, the serious side effects of statins can no longer be denied. The ongoing myth is that cholesterol causes heart disease and if you lower cholesterol then you lower the incidence of heart disease. You can read about this myth in Dr. Malcolm Kendrick’s book The Great Cholesterol Con.
The Cleveland Clinic’s cholesterol level of 100 is horrifyingly low. Low enough to cause brain damage including global amnesia because there is not enough cholesterol to ensure brain cells have enough lipids to make brain cell membranes. And it’s not enough cholesterol to make hormones, which is “cured” by v1agra in men on statins who are impotent. What are these doctors thinking? ..."[18]

March 17, 2019 - Magnesium Crosses the Blood/Brain Barrier (BBB) - By: Carolyn Dean MD ND - The Doctor of the Future®
I’ve been thinking a lot about the BBB since the 2009 rat study “Enhancement of Learning and Memory by Elevating Brain Magnesium.” Everyone heard about this study because the news that a patented magnesium was able to get into the brain and cerebrospinal fluid – of rats – was promoted relentlessly. The study authors implied that only their magnesium was able to penetrate the impenetrable BBB. I immediately knew this was an incredible exaggeration because even magnesium oxide with a 4% absorption into the blood can have positive effects on the brain. I reread the L’threonate study to confirm that there was only a 7% increase in magnesium in the CSF compared to magnesium citrate. With that tiny, tiny difference, the study authors declared their product to be The Holy Grail that conquered the BBB.
Here is what I wrote in an Aug 2014 blog about the Magnesium L-Threonate study:
I’ve been asked about the newest magnesium on the block—Magnesium L’Threonate. The manufacturers are on record as saying theirs is the only magnesium that crosses the blood brain barrier. However, that is definitely NOT an accurate statement. The treatment of migraines, seizures, stroke, head injuries, and other nervous system problems with even the highly unabsorbed magnesium oxide (at 4%) shows that all magnesiums work at the neuron level, which means they all get into the brain to some extent. The animal study using Magnesium L’Threonate obscures the reality that probably any magnesium would produce some of these effects.
Personally, when I take Magnesium L’Threonate, I get the laxative effect, which means to me that it’s not fully absorbed at the cellular level like ReMag. From a quick Google search I see that that it is a patented product, thus this animal study is being used for promotion of a commercial product. Therefore every opportunity is used to say it’s better than the competition making people feel that if they don’t take this one, they are not getting any brain benefit. In August 2013, I heard from a supplier of this magnesium that after the dust had settled, there was a vendor price increase of up to 400%. Create the demand and then raise the price is the name of the game.
Chapter 3 “Magnesium Transport Across The Blood-Brain Barriers” excerpted from the book Magnesium in the Central Nervous System shows that any form of supplemental magnesium has access to the brain. The following edited abstract shows you why: (Bracketed words are my additions.)
The finding that magnesium levels are reduced in acute and chronic brain diseases has led to a recent surge in interest in the role of magnesium in the normal and injured nervous system, although the mechanisms of magnesium decline in pathological conditions and its availability in the neural tissue after administration are not fully understood. The brain has two main barrier systems: (1) the blood-brain barrier (BBB) formed by brain capillary endothelial cells which separate the blood from the extracellular fluid in the neuropil (a dense mass of unmyelinated axons, dendrites and glial cell processes); and (2) the blood-CSF barrier (BCSFB) formed by choroidal epithelial cells which separate the blood from the CSF…Recently, transient receptor potential melastatin members have been identified as cation channels for magnesium transport. Although it is not known if choroidal epithelial cells express these molecules, but they are expressed by brain endothelial cells and may play a role in magnesium transport. It is evident that magnesium enters the CNS through the BBB and is actively transported by choroidal epithelial cells into the CSF.
This abstract very clearly shows us just how vital magnesium is to the brain because it has its own transport mechanism in place.
The first chapter in Magnesium in the Central Nervous System is called “Free Magnesium Concentration in the Human Brain.” The following edited abstract places magnesium in a central role in the brain: (Bracketed words are my additions.)
The cellular free magnesium concentration can be assessed in the human brain by phosphorous magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This technique has been employed in the human brain, providing new hints of the action of magnesium at the cellular level. Magnesium measured in the human brain is about half of that in the human skeletal muscle. This result is likely related to the lower ATP concentration of brain tissue. (Magnesium is required in 6 of the 8 steps in ATP production. So, if the brain produces less ATP then it stores and needs less magnesium.)
The possibility to assess cellular magnesium allowed it to be studied in different neurological pathologies, and particularly in those where the defective mitochondrial energy production represents the primary causative factor in pathogenesis. Testing provided evidence that cellular magnesium is a function of the energy charge of brain cells and a defective mitochondrial respiration causes a derangement of cellular magnesium homeostasis. A reduced cellular magnesium has been also found in the occipital lobes of patients with different types of migraine and cluster headache. In addition, the assessment by phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy of brain magnesium can help in the differential diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy and Parkinson’s disease, offering a new diagnostic tool.
You now know how important magnesium is for your brain and how it fights to keep your levels intact. So, be sure to use a well-absorbed magnesium like ReMag for superior results.

Over the past five years, amazing research has uncovered much about the relationship between what we eat and its impact on a wide variety of health conditions.
Brain health is directly linked to what goes on in the gut. The microbiome affects mood, libido, clarity of thought, and often one’s perception of the world. A dysfunctional microbiome could be at the root of headaches, anxiety, inability to concentrate, or even a negative outlook on life.
Put simply, nearly everything about health—how we feel physically, cognitively, and emotionally—can hinge on the state of the micro biome."[12]

"... here is the wrap-up of last Monday's edition of the Dr. Carolyn Dean Live radio show.
The brain is electromagnetic like the heart. We measure the electrical activity of the heart with EKG's and the brain with EEG's. Magnesium makes muscles and nerves work properly, allowing calcium to enter cells and cause muscle contraction or nerve firing and then pushing calcium out of the cells to allow the relaxation phase. But if there is not enough magnesium to get rid of the calcium the cell can keep firing and be "excited to death." Brain trauma of any kind will cause a release of calcium and if there isn't enough magnesium to pull the calcium out of the cells, there is cell death. Studies of animal and human brain trauma victims suggest that higher magnesium levels are associated with a better recovery. Also, giving sufficient magnesium will create a better healing outcome. Intravenous magnesium sulfate significantly reduces brain edema following brain injury and is used to treat patients with severe TBI without adverse effects.
* Stroke: The U.S. population, deficient in magnesium, is at greater risk for stroke with severe post-stroke complications. There can be poor recovery from head injury and escalating neurological damage. Lack of magnesium can enhance neurotoxin damage from vast numbers of chemicals in our air, food, and water.
* Brain Trauma: Higher magnesium levels are associated with a better recovery, and giving magnesium will create a better healing outcome.
* Diuretics Dry Out The Brain: A journal case study reported that an elderly woman's Serum Magnesium level became depleted due to a diuretic she was taking for hypertension.
* Aging: French magnesium researcher Dr.
* Memory: Research at MIT, however, produced a study in 2004 that elevates magnesium to the position of memory enhancer.
* Fear: MIT researcher found that "As predicted by our theory, increasing the concentration of magnesium and reducing the background level of noise led to the largest increases of plasticity ever reported in scientific literature." In English, that statement simply means that magnesium reduces the physical reaction to fear, which can only be a good thing!
* Treating Telomeres: A telomere is an essential part of chromosomes that affect how our cells age.
* Alzheimer's & Parkinson's: There is evidence that magnesium deficiency can trigger or worsen Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. These conditions are the neurological equivalent of heart disease. After all, both heart and brain are excitable tissues that give off electrical energy, and both must have magnesium.
In spite of all these potential outcomes, boosting your brain power can be simple! You can supplement your dietary intake of magnesium and other beneficial minerals such as zinc with our very own ReMag Magnesium Solution, a 60,000 ppm concentration of 99.99% pure elemental magnesium and ReMyte, our very same mineral product, both designed to slip right into the mineral channels of your cells and saturate your entire body, mind and spirit with magnesium and mineral delight![10]

November 25, 2018 - Head Injury & Magnesium -
A recent Medscape article reported that “Head Injury Tied to Long-term Cognitive Decline, Dementia Risk”. A quarter of the 13,000 head injury victims in the study experienced long-term cognitive decline and a greater risk for dementia over the 20 years of follow up. One researcher said that the increased decline for those with head injury is equivalent to aging them by 4 years.
Head injury is known to be associated with short-term cognitive but research on the longer-term cognitive effects has been lacking. So, now we know. But the big question is what is medicine going to do about it. As with most studies it’s “just the facts” and no indication about how to prevent or even teat the problem.
I wrote about head injury and magnesium in The Magnesium Miracle (2017) and I think this information is important.
A second study noted an incredibly high frequency of even mild head injury in the US that is associated with steep cognitive decline with approximately 23 million US adults 40 years of age or older reporting a head injury with loss of consciousness.
Head Injury And Magnesium
From animal studies, we know that brain magnesium levels fall dramatically at the site of a head injury, as this mineral is depleted in a nonstop cascade of acute events.4
In sixty-six human subjects with acute blunt head trauma, the greater the degree of injury, the greater the calcium-ion-to-magnesium-ion ratio. More calcium than magnesium in brain neurons is never a good thing—excess calcium causes ceaseless neuron stimulation, leading to cell death.
Measuring magnesium ion levels in the blood after TBI can be of both diagnostic and prognostic value in treating brain injury.5 Studies of animal and human brain trauma victims indicate that higher magnesium levels are associated with a better recovery.6 Also, giving sufficient magnesium will create a better healing outcome. Intravenous magnesium sulfate significantly reduces brain edema following brain injury and is used without adverse effects to treat patients with severe TBI.7 This is crucial information to give your doctor if your child suffers a head injury or any family member is involved in a motor vehicle accident.
Ionized magnesium testing, used in research studies, makes the diagnosis of posttraumatic headaches much easier. Abnormalities in magnesium ion concentration and the calcium-ion-to-magnesium-ion ratio were found in children with posttraumatic headaches even though serum magnesium levels were normal.8 Obviously, studies using only the serum magnesium test would miss the diagnosis and doctors would fail to properly treat these patients.
Magnesium depletion created by a head injury is slow to reverse. According to neurosurgeon Dr. Russell Blaylock, magnesium takes thirty minutes to get into the spinal fluid, three hours to reach the cortical area directly under the skull, and a full four to six hours for sufficient amounts of magnesium to reach the deep brain tissues.9
You get the point, magnesium, especially in the form of ReMag, is important for anyone who has suffered a head injury, whether acute or chronic. Here’s what one of our customers recently related about her Completement Formulas keeping her from having any sequelae from a head injury.
“I missed a step and fell at a gas station – hit the cement on the right side of my forehead. A friend drove me to the ER as my bump was the size of a jumbo egg. The ER doctor did a scan. I had a hematoma and a concussion but no internal bleeding or fracture. 10 days later, my GP was amazed that the area was healed with no discoloration nor a black eye. She asked if I had a headache: No. Dizziness? No. Nausea? No. Fuzzy thinking? No. She concluded that I healed much better than her patients in their 20s and 30s. Their problems last longer, for weeks and months. That’s because I take ReMag, ReMyte and RnA ReSet Drops and bathe my brain in good fats from a Keto diet.”
Unfortunately magnesium is not introduced into modern trauma treatment because doctors never learned about it in medical school. However, if you or a family member has suffered at TBI please inform your doctor of the need for magnesium. Take them my book. And show them Chapter 5: “The CNS, Stroke, Brain Injury, Brain Surgery”. Or you can download the free eBook Magnesium In The Central Nervous System and print out Chapter 12: “The Role of Magnesium in Traumatic CNS Injury.”

March 10, 2018 - The Significance of MSM and DMSO -
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring sulfur compound in your body that's well known for supporting your joints, but it's also useful in other areas of your body. ...
Perhaps the best way you know if you don't have enough MSM in your system is by symptoms that may include fatigue, prevalence in experiencing high stress, physically and psychologically, depression and even degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease, arteriosclerosis, osteoarthritis and cancer.
MSM metabolizes dimethyl sulfoxide, a controversial anti-inflammatory and analgesic compound known as DMSO, which, unfortunately, is approved for use in veterinary medicine only, not in humans. ...
One article discusses Dr. Stanley Jacob's research on DMSO and its benefits in many applications, including the treatment of head trauma. According to Jacob, its ability as a free-radical scavenger and diuretic is part of the key to improving the blood supply to the brain, which reduces swelling:
"This improves blood oxygenation to brain tissue. Injured brain cells often aren't dead. When these cells get increased blood supply and more oxygen, and when the free radicals are scavenged, dying cells can recover, and brain swelling is reduced very rapidly."[6]
-
DMSO's diuretic benefit is especially to be noted for both brain injuries and during the healing crisis that occurs at the crossing from conflict active into a cardiological healing stage. Following is Q&A with Dr. Hamer, founder of German New Medicine, regarding this healing crisis:
Question - What happens when a biological conflict has been solved?
When a biological conflict has been solved we can see very clear symptoms, on the psychic level, the brain level and on the organ level. On the psychic and vegetative level, we see that the patient is no longer dwelling on the conflict content. Hands suddenly get warm again, appetite improves, weight normalizes and the patient sleeps better. There may also be fatigue and weakness and a need to rest. This is in no way the beginning of the end, but it's a very positive sign. This healing phase varies in duration, depending on the duration of the prior conflict. At the height of the healing phase, when the body retains a lot of water, we see the epileptic or epileptoid crisis, which shows a different symptom for every disease.
After the epileptic-epileptoid crisis, the body expels water from the edema (infiltration of tissues with water) and slowly returns to normality and the patient feels his strength returning. …This epileptic or epileptoid crisis, triggered by the brain, marks the high point of the edema and, respectively, the turning point to normality. In the second half of the healing phase, the brain's harmless connective tissue, the glia, fills … to repair it. This really harmless connective tissue, which we can colour white on the CT scan with an iodine contrast substance, was previously mistaken as a brain tumor and operated on. Since the brain cells themselves CANNOT multiply after birth, REAL brain tumors cannot exist.
… the epileptic crisis appears on the corresponding two levels as well as on the organ level (psyche, brain and organ).
Question - Can you describe such an epileptic crisis? -
The epileptic crisis is something Mother Nature devised a billion years ago. It runs on all three levels at the same time. It happens at the height of the healing phase, its purpose being to normalize again. What we usually call an epileptic cramp-spasm with muscle cramps is only one form of the epileptic crisis, namely, after resolving a motoric conflict.
Epileptoid crises occur in every disease but with some variations in each. Mother Nature created quite a trick for this meaningful event. In the middle of the healing phase, the patient experiences a recurrence of the physiological conflict, which means the patient experiences his/her conflict for a short time (stress phase) all over again including cold hands, centralized cold sweat and all the symptoms of the conflict active phase. This happens so that the brain edema gets suppressed and the fluid eliminated from it and the patient can return to normal.
After the epileptic crisis, the patient will warm up and then experience the first small urinary phase. From this epileptic crisis on, the patient is on the road to normality. In other words, if the patient can get past this crisis, a further complicated or serious crisis is unlikely. The second urinary phase occurs at the end of the healing phase when the body eliminates a mass of urine which is the rest of the edema. The danger point lies just before the end of the epileptic-epileptoid crisis when it will become evident whether or not the epileptic crisis was enough to steer the regulator or controller (in the brain) around. The best-known epileptic crisis is the heart infarct. The epileptoid crisis is a lung embolism, hepatitis crisis or pneumonia crisis.
To assist the body in making the necessary changes, especially in conflicts of long duration, a strong cortisone injection is sometimes necessary. In very difficult cases, the cortisone may be given sooner. [7]
---
Comment: I’m interested in researching whether MSM can be substituted for the cortisone.

Hamer Brain Focus -
If we experience an overwhelming stress (ex: “Mr., your son is dead”), this is similar emotionally to a large power surge on the electrical transmission line caused by lightning. At the moment of high voltage, the appropriate circuit breaker switches “off”. If there is no circuit breaker greater destruction is assured; in the case of the brain, a larger part of the brain may be damaged. With this “breaker procedure” the brain isolates the conflict in a smaller area: a Hamer Brain Focus.
Most diseases are linked to emotional conflicts. The Hamer Brain Focus (neuronal center) in the brain is targeted at the moment of the emotional shock and it modifies the function of the related organ (in correspondence with the disease).
The Hamer Brain Focus concentrates all of the psychological conflict into an area which occupies about 1% of the brain. This Hamer Brain Focus controls and causes disease in the targeted organ.
Becoming sufficiently aware of the unconscious programming, the brain releases the old emotions and replaces the old programming thus resolving the disease. Current evidence suggests that this equates to awareness at the cellular level as well, which then resolves the disease.[8]

August 21, 2019 - Continuing Regarding "REAL brain tumors cannot exist" -
"... natural glia accumulation that conventional medicine labels as a 'brain tumor', with often dire consequences for the patient."[35]
Comment:
This blog-writer/researcher just now learned of such a "dire consequence" for a man consequential to his being "diagnosed" with having a "terminal brain tumor" - essentially a death sentence delivered to a healthy man who was most likely in the healing stage of another "disease" (although that would need to be verified). This writer was just thinking about this man in the last day or so prior to the "news"! The subconscious effect of a doctor's "diagnosis" and "prognosis" needs to be considered for its potential "black magic" power over the individual!
--
"Brain cancer is a natural healing process of the body after you have been through intense stress. If you let go of the stressful conflict, you may stop the brain tumor from growing."[36]
Also: "An edema forms at the site (in the brain corresponding to the shock conflict) to protect the area that is healing at the time. It contains water which causes swelling. Fever and inflammation are other signs of the healing process and may cause pain. The intensity of the healing process depends on the severity of the prior conflict.
Symptoms on the related organ might not create enough water retention to make it painful. Neurons also undergo a restoration process parallel to the psyche and the organ. ...
As with the organ, water, and serous fluid go to the damaged neurons to protect them. This natural process creates a brain edema. The intensity of the previous conflict determines the extent and size of the edema.
Western medicine diagnoses the growing brain edema as a brain tumor. It is the swelling of the brain edema that causes symptoms such as dizziness and headaches. They can feel like dull pressure headaches."[36]

January 22, 2018 - Initial Post -
For the past several days I've been watching some of a documentary titled: "Broken Brain"[1] that has greatly captured my interest - primarily because of the tremendous extent which people (seemingly everywhere) have been suffering from some form of a "broken brain" condition!
Currently in Episode 5 now and I am deeply impressed with the interview of Dr. Jennifer Love who says: "conventional psychiatry, is ... driven by the pharmaceutical industry ..."
...My nursing professors—I apparently used to drive them crazy. I was always asking questions about, "Well, why does this work? If we do something in this system, how does it affect this other system?" They would just throw their hands up in the air and say, "Go to medical school."
I finally ended up down that path and going to medical school. After about nine years of medical training, I got my first job. All these questions that I had, there's so much information in medical school that you get, they say it's like drinking out of a fire hose. There's so much coming at you. But I realized when I was out in the day-to-day world that I was still stuck with the question of why. Why is this happening? So much of medicine is treading water. It's taking care of symptoms. I found myself trying to figure out how to get to the root of all of this. I've never really thought of myself as a functional psychiatrist. I just like getting in and coming up with something better than trying to calm down symptoms.
With conventional psychiatry, it's largely driven by the pharmaceutical industry and managed care. Physicians are under time constraints to only spend a certain amount of time with patients. The reimbursements are for very short visits. It's difficult to be able to spend the time you need to really get at the heart of the issue. I think that's true not just in psychiatry, but in every discipline.
[Psychiatry is medication based] -
I think some of the challenges with conventional psychiatry is that it's really based on symptom management. There's not a lot of research that isn't funded by pharmacological companies. It's really medication based and physicians are expected to prescribe medication, and then the insurance companies want therapy to be done by therapists because it's less expensive. You have this division of ... you have prescribers and then you have people who are coming in and trying to use therapy to get at the underlying issues. There's just a disconnect.
My first job out of my fellowship training was with a big HMO company. If I said the name, you'd recognize them. I used to get in trouble for spending too much time with my patients. I would have patients who would come in and they were alcoholic or having a major depressive episode, and they'd never seen a physician to discuss it before. I was expected to do their entire evaluation and treatment in 20 minutes. It just didn't make sense to me that someone who is suffering from an alcohol use disorder ... My supervisor literally told me that I need to give them Prozac and Trazodone for sleep and then you're done and send them out. It just wasn't a good fit for me at all.
When I fell into the practice and group that I'm with now, I think the biggest draw was the ability to take time with people to really get to know what's going on with them so we could look beyond treading water and trying to manage the symptoms of the moment, but get really at the heart of everything.
The first question is: why is a person anxious? I think there are a lot of different reasons. I think every person who comes into my office has a different story. Some people have a very strong genetic predisposition to anxiety. Some people have been anxious since childhood. Some people come from very chaotic backgrounds. Some people have an onset in college and later. Finding out what is at the cause will then help me come up with a treatment plan that's individualized for them.
I think one of the big issues with anxiety for a lot of people is: if it's been going on since childhood, people may be really anxious and not even realize their level of anxiety because to them they're so used to it. They've always functioned that way. ...
Expert Interviews – Jennifer Love, MD everyday existence is and talk to them about anxiety that they go, "Oh, wow. I actually really am anxious." One of the hallmarks with anxiety that I see is a total disconnect between the emotional part of the brain and the logical part of the brain. ...[2]

August 30, 2018 - Antidepressant Neurotoxicity -
"Antidepressants are neurotoxic, that is, they harm the brain and disrupt its functions. As a result, they cause innumerable kinds of abnormal thinking and behaviors, including mania, suicide and violence. In the process, they cause detectable damage to the brain of the child or adult, and also to the fetus of pregnant mothers who take the drug."[11]
Dr. Breggin is author of: "Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal" - A Guide for Prescribers, Therapists, Patients and their Families.
This book provides a roadmap for prescribers, therapists, patients and their families that enables patients to taper off their drugs and achieve emotional and physical recovery. It also provides treatment approaches for patients on or off psychiatric drugs.
And -
"Medication Madness" - The Role of Psychiatric Drugs in Cases of Violence, Suicide and Crime.
Medication Madness reads like a medical thriller and courtroom drama. But it is based on science and dozens of real-life cases. The lives of children, adults, families and victims in these stories were thrown into turmoil and often destroyed by psychiatric drugs.

August 16, 2018 - "Eliciting the Patient’s Agenda - Secondary Analysis of Recorded Clinical Encounters" -
"Clinicians often fail to elicit the patient’s agenda and when they do, they promptly interrupt patients".
Abstract -
Background -
Eliciting patient concerns and listening carefully to them contributes to patient-centered care. Yet, clinicians often fail to elicit the patient’s agenda and, when they do, they interrupt the patient’s discourse.
Objective -
We aimed to describe the extent to which patients’ concerns are elicited across different clinical settings and how shared decision-making tools impact agenda elicitation.
Key Results
Clinicians elicited the patient’s agenda in 40 of 112 (36%) encounters. Agendas were elicited more often in primary care (30/61 encounters, 49%) than in specialty care (10/51 encounters, 20%); ... In 27 of the 40 (67%) encounters in which clinicians elicited patient concerns, the clinician interrupted the patient after a median of 11 seconds ... Uninterrupted patients took a median of 6 s ... to state their concern.
Conclusions
Clinicians seldom elicit the patient’s agenda; when they do, they interrupt patients sooner than previously reported. ... Failure to elicit the patient’s agenda reduces the chance that clinicians will orient the priorities of a clinical encounter toward specific aspects that matter to each patient.
INTRODUCTION -
The medical interview is a pillar of medicine. It allows patients and clinicians to build a relationship. Ideally, this process is inherently therapeutic, allowing the clinician to convey compassion, and be responsive to the needs of each patient. Eliciting and understanding the patient’s agenda enhances and facilitates patient-clinician communication. Agenda setting is a conversational strategy that allows clinicians and patients to negotiate and collaborate to clarify the concerns and expectations of both parties. This results in a constructive alliance that leads to focused, efficient, and patient-centered care. A review of the literature, evaluating communication and relationship skills, identified six studies in general clinical practice, in which setting the patient’s agenda enhanced communication efficiency. However, despite these potential benefits, the use of this communication skill in general clinical practice appears to be limited. In a landmark clinical communication study published in 1984, Beckman et al. found that in 69% of the visits to a primary care internal medicine practice, the physician interrupted the patient, with a mean time to interruption of 18 s. Fifteen years later, Marvel et al. found that physicians solicited the patient’s concern in 75% of primary care visits and interrupted this initial statement in a mean of 23 s. Similarly, Dyche et al. found in 2004 that in approximately 60% of general medicine visits, the clinician inquired about the patient’s agenda, that only 26% of the patients completed their statement uninterrupted, and that the mean time to interruption was 16.5 s. In addition, failure to elicit the patients’ agenda was associated with a 24% reduction in the physician’s understanding of the main reasons for the consultation. Although the prevalence of agenda setting has been studied in general medicine clinics, the prevalence of agenda setting in specialty care remains relatively unexplored. One study evaluating psychiatric consultations found agenda inquiries in 90% of these visits, with 67% of these proceeding without interruption. These studies, performed decades apart, suggest that clinicians often fail to elicit the patient’s agenda and when they do, they promptly interrupt patients.[9]

In another blog post I presented the importance of being heard within the therapeutic relationship. The importance is unparalleled! Another words being heard is essentially all that is needed for a resolution for the psyche which s the epi center for healing of the mind-body as a continuum. The flip side of this is the need for "mind clearing" when an incomplete communication has adversely impacted an individual. The most positive expression across the spectrum of communication is when one experiences their communication is life! The findings in the above quoted "Abstract" are rather astonishing in light of the potential for communication within the therapeutic relationship. Medical doctors can argue that they are not psychologists however there is such a thing known as patient-centered medicine although that hasn't been fully realized, yet.
Doctors apparently need to be trained (or better trained) in doctor-patient and patient-doctor communications. I'd love to contribute toward that training! I can easily visualize a community-based model that is provided through community health-service organizations that offer support services for patients. The start of this could be easily implemented with basic dyad communication exercises. Staff members in the organization would be given an introductory workshop on dyad communications with the intention that they would engage their clients who want support in communicating with their doctors.
The client would learn the dyad technique and practice it with the staff member till the client was confident in their ability in both functions of communication: as the active communicator and as the receptive listener. When one community service organization has implemented the training then other community health orgs can be introduced to it as well. With enough track records in at least a few community organizations then pre-med schools could be approached. All of this is locally available where I live and so it is feasible to launch this initiative right where I am!

February 14, 2018 - The Consequences of Modern Day Education, Processed Food and Agriculture on Brain Development -
Just submitted the following at Jon Rapport's site:
chefjemichel says:
February 14, 2018 at 3:06 pm -
The ramifications in suppressing clear logical thinking by way of the public educational systems extends in all directions – within the “human being” (declining individuality if it ever was there) and externally into the social/political/economic spheres (as another child subject to however the prevailing winds are blowing). A few decades ago the materialistic science could not detect the physical impact but now that is possible. Yet the impact was known a hundred years ago:
“What we call power of discrimination, power of judgment in man, in other words the logical thinking of the thinker, brings about a definite change in the whole structure of the human brain. Clear thinking causes a change in the physical instrument of the brain. Scientific research knows little of this, but it is a fact that a physical brain that has been used by a thinker has a different appearance from the brain which belongs to a non-thinker.”[i]
Food is another way that is used to conquer a nation. The missing vital nutrients consequential to modern day food processing as well as modern day (so-called) agriculture impact the ability to think. The brain functions differently according to the type and quality of its food somewhat comparable to operating an automobile. The nutritional consequences in this instance are mental disorders as documented by Dr. Weston A. Price.[ii]
There are a number of additional factors that play into this phenomena as well. Jon also has presented some of these.
