The Biggest Question of our Lifetime
(Path of my Life)
The BIG Question of our lifetimes is....
Date: 10/29/2015 1:50:23 PM ( 9 y ago)
This question has been asked many times, and I heard it again just a few days ago:
"If it is going to cause hardship to their own kids and grandkids, why are they letting it happen?"
The question remains the same, but the "it" in "why are they letting it happen" has been various controversial issues such as:
* Lead pollution - from leaded gasoline, from coal and from various industrial processes. There is no doubt at all anymore about the damaging effects of lead pollution, especially in children [lead causes a noticeable decline in scholastic abilities];
* Ozone depletion from the upper atmosphere causing a marked increase in skin cancers and cataracts;
* Global Warming...
I will stop the list there, even though there are other examples - from warmongering to tobacco consumption - where officials and authorities would deny the problem even though their own kids and grandkids will suffer the consequences.
Global warming - and the changes in climate that we are seeing now - is STILL being denied by major public figures and various wealthy oilmen.
When my friends hear these "big important and successful people" saying that there is no problem, the logical question is:
"If it is going to cause hardship to their own kids and grandkids, why are they letting it happen?"
There are really only TWO answers to that question:
1] The deniers must be right, there is no problem;
2] The deniers are so cold-hearted that they are willing to subject their own children and grandchildren to the ravages of extreme weather and climate changes just so they can continue making the big money of the oil and gas industry.
Nope. Not good enough - not for my grandkids.
I going to continue to stick my [chicken-little] neck out and end up looking foolish as I shout "the sky is falling"... because it is, metaphorically.
Sometimes I wish I was wrong about a lot of things - for one, I wish I was wrong about religion and god and hell and all that [I am an atheist] because the deniers of problems that will plague future generations would surely go to hell. The curious thing here is that these major public figures all profess to be Christians or Muslims or whatever "believers in God".
Perhaps the 2nd Biggest Question is:
"do these deniers KNOW that god and hell and religion is just a farce? If not, why would they risk going to hell for their greed driven denials of problems that will harm their own kids and grandkids?"
Have a nice day anyway.
