"The Gift That Keeps On Giving: Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics" - DrB

Here at this blog I very rarely give attention to specific "foods of commerce" that have been completely eliminated from my diet and that I never recommend in any way, shape or form as food fit for human consumption. However, the following quote from the current article by Dr. Brownstein that may enlighten the readers as to how modern day food manufacturers manufacture their food products and the wanting condition that the product ends up as after all the manufacturing has been done to it. Take for example "Kraft Singles":

"... the ingredients of Kraft Singles. It is a highly processed food that contains milk protein concentrate. What is milk protein concentrate? Milk protein concentrate is made from a highly industrialized process that includes exposing milk to high heat, harsh mechanical processes and spray drying. In fact, during the manufacturing of milk protein concentrate, all the minerals are removed. I highly doubt that the final product is worthy of ingestion. Milk protein concentrate is certainly not what healthy milk is supposed to be.":

Determining the "worthiness" of ingesting a highly processed "food" is something I recommend! If one can determine whether or not the product contains real food, whether or not their body can truly digest the product and whether or not they can assimilate whatever nutrition there may be then a final determination as to whether "the final product is worthy of ingestion" or not! Do people apply this kind of scrutiny to their food choices? Some people do! I actually got to witness a father and daughter conversation at the super market the other day where the daughter had picked out a product she wanted and the father looked at the ingredients while making statements about some of the non-food ingredients. I wanted to make eye contact with the father and smile!
