This is a first draft of Goyo Mon's Song for JR Organics...The intent of this Draft is to Plant the Intention for the Comeback of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine CSA this new year and to celebrate the joy of local farming and family as expressed by the Rodriguez Family 5th Generation Farmers in San Diego. The last slide honors the effort January 10, 2014 to Label The FDA, an event in Washington D.C. Community Supported Agriculture and its Local Agricultural Programs help local farmers thrive.

LOCAL FARMING IS A "BLACKOUT ALTERNATIVE"

When the Blackout hit in San Diego a number of years back, people flocked to the FM for food. Their electricity was out. Stores were not selling food. This was a vision of the world as we need it. Local food grown close to home.
THESE ARE THREE OF THE RODRIGUES FARMING FAMILY CHILDREN THAT ARE NOW GROWN UP--THIS WAS TAKEN TEN OR MORE YEARS AGO
The images of these three young women show throughout Draft One of the Video. They are all teens or older now, around 17 -20.
One of the themes of the story, "The Comeback of Joe The Farmer" expresses Papa Joe's concern if it is wise to advise the offspring to go into farming. It is a difficult life. San Diego, home of the Rodriguez Farming Family, is one of the most popular places for growing local organic foods. Even here, the challenges are immense.
Water prices continue to go up. There is extreme pressure from less expensive foods coming from Mexico. Shoppers are not aware of the skill that it takes to bring fresh foods to the farmers' market.
I often say, This food has the doctor bill included.
The FDA and its policies are geared to promote globalization and promote GMO Foods. The inclusion of GMO Foods is near official US Ag Policy. The FDA's vision of Food Safety is geared to make Food Safe for Corporate investors. This trend was clear in 2010 when I spent a year working on the Food Safety Modernization Act.

SAMANTHA and BEA of the Rodriguez Farming family work at the HILLCREST FARMERS' MARKET October 25, 2009. They are part of this fifth generation So Cal farming family that has been organic since the mid 80's. Sammy has worked at the Farmers' Market since she was as big as one of the
lettuces!! Bea, the daughter of Joe Rodriguez Jr, is at the Farmers' Market many weeks of the month.
