Eco Art: "Oriental One" by mayah (c)2012 10" X 12"
Eco Art: "Oriental Two" by mayah (c)2012 10" X 12"
Eco MaG: "Oriental Three" by mayah (c)2012 approximately 6" X 4"
The top two art pieces were made 4-5 years ago and were the first Eco Art pieces I made before I was even calling it that--they are very simple, derived from tissue paper, reused wrapping paper and packing material over a base of reused cardboard. Embellishments are reused fan blades from a broken wooden fan, an old coin, and a printout from the Internet (the dragon) taken off of a poster a family member made for a book report many years ago. I just got around to framing these recently; I'd put the metal frames together a long time ago but couldn't find any glass to fit and just had the glass cut last week. Sometimes it takes me a while to get around to finishing up a project!
The third piece, the Eco MaG, I made about two weeks ago. It has a bit more creativity to it, and is a collage of reused photos from magazine and catalog advertisements and a mini print cut-out of my original "Rose" watercolor, glued to a base of reused corrugated cardboard. The edges are covered with black electrical tape and it has a magnet backing. Glues are nontoxic.
I'm posting these as a reminder to myself that I'm making some advances in the complexity of my art--at least a little bit!
"Eco Art by mayah" and "Eco MaGs by mayah": Made from reused materials and earth-friendlier art supplies. Eco MaGs are mini-art pieces with magnet backings so they can hang on the 'frig.
