"Roof of the World" is an assemblage/altered book made from layers of textured book covers. The center is an Eye. The title is from one of the books used to make the piece.

This was the process I used to make the assemblage/altered book:
• Got several books in a series so they would all be the same size and cut triangles off the corners of the hard covers.
• Got a large piece of masonite board cut into 32"X32", covered the board with a stretch see-through fabric, and spray painted it black.
• When dry, painted over the black background with dark blue/lighter blue to make variations in the background to symbolize the vastness of space.
• Spray painted 8 of the book-corner triangles gold; spotted 4 of them with a light white spray for the base of the piece and gave the next 4 triangles a heavy textured background by painting them with light bronze and gold.
• Glued all of the triangles in place on the background.
• Found a great "EYE" picture which I painted over for the center.
• Added the last 4 book-corner triangles, painted in light bronze
• Added silver sparkle to highlight the center of the piece.
• I noticed in this process that one of the books I used had a title "Roof of the World"; thought this was a great name for this piece, so added the book title as the title of the piece.
