A Healing Journey
Each day, it seems, we are assaulted by greater anger and discord in our world. You don't need me to reiterate what you see every day. There is a great deal of anguish. The planet itself is suffering.
This is why Intentional Meditative Practices are so crucial now.
In the Kabbalistic tradition, the Omer period of 49 days between Passover and Shavuot -- from enslavement in Egypt to receiving Torah at Sinai; between leaving our stuckness and arriving at a place of liberation -- has long provided a path to deeper personal development. This ancient journey from enslavement to awakening is one of the clearest and most enduring paradigms of spiritual awakening in the Jewish mystical tradition.
The meditative stages in my book, A Journey of Awakening: Meditations on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, were designed to help us reawaken from the inside out. I believe that the essential wisdom of Kabbalah, like that of other authentic spiritual traditions, is to be found within us. So the real task was designing a text that would satisfy the intellect while also providing meditative practices to help awaken our own Awareness.
The book itself is available (at Unity of Bellevue, Amazon or my Web site) should you wish to use the explanations, affirmations, writing exercises, meditations, and visualizations it contains. Over the years, I have been gratified to hear from those who use it. They often share with me that, each year, the journey deepens.
This year, I am moved to share a Daily Focus for each of the 49 days of the Omer directly. Whether or not you use the book, you can receive an intention for each day on Twitter, Facebook or my Web site.
You know how important the state of our consciousness is to our experience of ourselves and our world. Please join me in taking greater responsibility for doing what we can to open our hearts and minds to possibilities for healing that lie within us all.
