Artistic Entrepreneurship For Children In Support Of Sustainable Food Systems! by chef jem .....
A potential vision for school teachers to fully engage their student's interests and inspire them about "real foods".

I imagine that there are many school children who could be completely inspired by this! The idea is for children to experience a learn-by-doing approach to an artistic entrepreneurship that can support sustainable food systems.
The art begins by first searching back to the "farm foods" that our great grandparents grew up with. One way is through reproducing the images found in magazine advertisements that celebrated real foods many years before all the anti-fat scare of the late 50's and 60's; that advocated replacing butter and other traditional animal fats with hydrogenated oils! These images (with there brief statements in favor of "the real thing") can be digitized and turned into museum quality posters via giclée reproduction. The school is the perfect place to have the printer so that the children can learn what it takes to make the posters themselves!
Then the posters can be sold as fund-raisers for the school to recover all the costs of the production equipment. One of the potential sources for distributing these posters can be the hundreds of Weston A. Price local chapters as they are among the leading advocates for real food! The local chapter leaders and others can sell the posters to restaurants and private individuals.
After the children learn giclée reproduction they could take up photography and begin creating their own images. This is where they can tap their imagination big time! If they continue with the "farm food" theme then this will draw the children to the source of these real foods - right onto the farms themselves! Children will be eager to go "down on the farm"! Maybe their first visit can be on a Waldorf school farm like the one that is in Washington that's on a Biodynamic farm! Imagine having school on a farm! The children will love it! I believe they will make great new art there!
